Benelli USA World Class Collection R1 Limited 30.06 Rifle

ACCOKEEK, MD (October 6, 2008) – The R1 Limited Edition Rifle is now part of the exclusive Benelli USA World Class Collection. On the inside, the R1 is pure high-tech Benelli, with the clean, efficient A.R.G.O. system, a proven adaptation of the operating system used by the U.S. Marine Corps in the M1014 semi-automatic shotgun. The R1 also features a super-tight, three-lug rotary bolt lock-up and Benelli Crio barrel for game-dropping accuracy.
Each model is magnificently engraved with a leaping red stag crafted in gold relief, set in a garland of bevel-cut oak leaves and acorns on the right-hand side of the receiver. The same workmanship is displayed on the left hand receiver where a golden European wild boar charges from a stand of firs flanked by sprigs of chestnut. At the rear of the receiver, deftly cut vignettes in “bank note” line engraving showcase close-up portraits of the formidable wild boar and majestic red stag. The rifle’s pistol grip is mounted with a sterling silver medallion that can be custom engraved with your initials or a design. Expansion Of Bismuth Ammunition Production Announced By American Elements

Expansion Of Bismuth Ammunition Production Announced By American Elements
Los Angeles, California — American Elements announced the further expansion of its bismuth metal facilities to meet growing demand for the metal in non-lead bullets and ammunition.
The new production capacity will affect deliveries beginning in October ’08. Recent changes in state and local laws requiring that lead-free ammunition projectiles be used for hunting game in certain restricted areas has increased demand for various forms of the metal, including as shot, granules and needles. American Elements now offers all three in 99.99% purity. For example, last December the California Department of Fish and Game modified its authorized methods for hunting certain big game, including deer, bear and elk in its condor range to lead-free ammunition projectiles only.
The increased capacity will also expand American Elements’ production of all its bismuth-related products including bismuth-containing alloys, bismuth oxide, other bismuth compounds, such as bismuth chloride, bismuth carbide and bismuth nitrate, nanomaterials, such bismuth oxide nanopowder and bismuth nanoparticles, and thin film coating materials for evaporation and deposition such as bismuth sputtering targets, bismuth rod, pellets and foil ammunition.

Winners Crowned at NWTF Still Target World Target Shooting Championships

Winners Crowned at NWTF Shooting Championships 2008

EDGEFIELD, South Carolina – Bluebird skies and southern hospitality greeted almost 50 of the world’s best still target shooters as they gathered at the Wild Turkey Center in Edgefield Oct. 3 to Oct. 4 for a weekend of closely matched but friendly competition during the World Wild Turkey Still Target Championships.
The event challenges shooters to put the most pellets inside a 3-inch circle on a paper target from a distance of 40 yards, which is the maximum shooting distance the NWTF recommends.
Brian Sloan from Statesville, N.C., won both the 12 Gauge Open and Black Powder Divisions. Other winners included Scott Kirsch from Cloverdale, Ind., Karie Willis from Oakdale, Tenn. and Jacob Miles from Statesville, N.C., who won the 20 Gauge Open, Ladies’ and JAKES Divisions, respectively.
During the shoot, competitors were challenged to continually compensate for variations in temperature and wind as chilly mornings gave way to warm afternoons. Most shooters brought several guns so they could change if their first choice wasn’t shooting quite right.
“As the barrel temperature changes, so does the point of impact on the target,” said past Still Target World Champion Steve Conover, who remained a contender all weekend but ultimately fell to his friends Sloan and Kirsch while competing in the 12 and 20 Gauge Open classes. “There are a lot of factors at play that you must consider if you want to beat the world’s best here at NWTF headquarters,” Conover added.
Originally known as a “turkey shoot,” the NWTF’s Still Target Championships were conceived 17 years ago as a conservation effort to help turkey hunters better understand point of aim and point of impact of their turkey guns.
“The ultimate goal of the competition is to reduce crippling loss and misses in the field, but it’s also a great way for equipment manufacturers to improve their turkey hunting products,” said Rhett Simmons, NWTF director of special events.
Sloan came into a zone of concentration on Saturday, scoring an impressive 32 in the 12 Gauge Open class with his custom Savage shotgun, enough to best Kirsch’s Browning BPS, which other shooters dubbed the “Purple Paper Eater.”
“Things went exceptionally well for me today,” said Sloan. “I wasn’t shooting that great during the semi-finals in the mornings, but that’s okay because I expected my guns to get hot in the afternoon and start shooting better during the finals. They did just that, and I was able to make the crucial shot during the finals when it mattered most.”
Sloan went on to say that he encourages all shooters to try still target shooting.
“Still target shooting is very easy to get into and compete in. The black powder guns that we shoot with are stock guns straight from the factory, and that makes the cost of entry pretty affordable for anyone who wants to compete. For example, I won the 12 Gauge Open Black Powder World Championship here last year with a stock gun. This is a [...]

Smith & Wesson Expands M and P Pistols With Julie Goloski Model

Firearm News ,

Smith & Wesson Expands M and P Pistols With Julie Goloski Model
SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – Smith & Wesson Corp., announced today that the company has expanded the Military & Police (M&P) Pistol lineup with the introduction of the M&P9 JG (Julie Goloski), as part of the new Smith & Wesson Champion Series.
Designed in collaboration with Smith & Wesson Professional Shooter Julie Goloski, the polymer frame pistol incorporates several competition-specific features requested by the champion shooter. The M&P9 JG is engraved with the ‘Awareness Ribbon’ on the slide of the pistol and is packaged with two pink grip inserts (small and medium) along with the three standard black grip inserts. A portion of the proceeds for each pistol sold will be donated to a breast cancer awareness charity.
“Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women after lung cancer and over two million women have been treated for it in the United States,” said Julie Goloski, Smith & Wesson Consumer Program Manager and Champion Shooter. “This is a tragic statistic, but one that can be changed. The money raised from this new pistol will help support research, increase education and promote early detection among both women and men.”
Chambered in 9mm, the M&P9 JG features a fiber optic front sight along with a Warren® Tactical rear sight on top of the 4 Â ¼-inch barrel. For enhanced durability, the M&P9 JG has a Zytel® polymer frame reinforced with a ridged steel chassis and a through-hardened black Melonite® stainless steel barrel and slide. This combination of features provides unparalleled shootability and dramatically reduces felt recoil. The M&P9 JG has a capacity of 17+1 and is shipped with two magazines. The striker fired action trigger system features a 6 ½-pound trigger pull and has been designed with an overtravel stop for enhanced performance. Another distinct feature that separates the M&P line from other polymer pistols is that it does not require the user to press the trigger in order to field strip the firearm.
“In recognition of breast cancer awareness month this October, we encourage everyone to support the various charities and cancer centers through any means they can,” said Goloski. “For those who share a strong connection with the shooting sports, the purchase of a M&P9 JG is one way that you can give back.”

The receiver is decorated in textured open American style with liner shading throughout with a fine punch dot background. The top of the receiver is completely covered in American scroll pattern that is bordered on the beveled sides by an overlapping leaf detail while the breech has a continuation of the receiver scroll, ending with a 24kt gold inlay that flows down the barrel on either side of the rear sight.
Left Panel Detail
The serial number is prominently displayed in a 24kt gold solid inlay with deep hand-cut letters. The great American Bison is cut in the Bulino style, and is raised above the field of 24kt gold inlay that makes up the cameo’s oval shape. There is a Florentine texture throughout this inlay that enriches the surface by softly diffusing the light, making the gold give off warmth, without glare or a bold reflection.
Right Panel Detail
The time-honored Marlin Scout is also prominently featured in the Bulino style, and is raised above the inlayed gold cameo. “Marlin 30 Millionth” is inlaid in 24kt gold, into a banner that flows under the Scout cameo. The safety is gold filled to replicate the target used by traditional Marlin advertising and the rifle’s bolt is polished and fine jeweled.
Finger Lever and Hammer Detail
Detailed as fine Marlins have been for over 100 years, the arrow on the hammer adds a distinct “Marlin” touch, and is inlaid in solid gold. The Lever is engraved and inlaid with 24kt gold to accent the shape of the lever and matches the scroll detail featured on the rifle’s barrel.
Founded in 1870, Marlin Firearms is one of the largest sporting firearms manufacturers in the world. Marlin is known for its outstanding lever action rifles, and rimfire rifles and is located in [...]

DPMS Firearms and Del-Tone/Luth Gun Club Help Local Residents Take Their First Shots…For Free!

St. Cloud, Minnesota – DPMS Firearms, in conjunction with the Del-Tone/Luth Gun Club and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), hosted a First Shots seminar Saturday, September 20 in St. Cloud, MN. The free-to-the-public event marked the first time an official First Shots seminar had been offered in the St. Cloud area and 40 local residents, ranging in age from 11 to 71, came out and took their first shots with a handgun, rifle and shotgun. Prior to taking those first shots however, each participant attended a classroom session that focused on firearm safety, education and how to take the next steps in becoming a safe and responsible gun owner.
Originally begun as an introduction to handgun shooting, First Shots seminars have expanded to include rifle and shotgun instruction. Firearms manufacturers such as DPMS, Marlin, Remington Arms Company, Smith & Wesson and Taurus along with ammunition manufacturers Corbon Glaser, Federal Cartridge, Hornady and Remington have all stepped up to donate time, resources and most importantly product, thereby allowing the program to remain free to participants. These same manufacturers recognize the need to help grow the shooting sports and understand that by partnering with the National Shooting Sports Foundation and the First Shots program, more potential new shooters can be provided the opportunity to try shooting in a safe and educational environment all with the hope that they will come back and bring someone with them. “First Shots success is driven by the strong commitments of both ranges and industry corporations. DPMS and Del-Tone/Luth Gun Club are a great example of working together to build support and create new shooters within their local community,” said Cyndi Dalena of the NSSF.
When polled as to their reasons for attending the First Shots event, participant’s responses ranged from a desire to learn about state and local handgun laws to concerns over personal safety while some just wanted to revisit an old pastime or try something new, but all agreed that the classroom and range time were beneficial and informative and that more residents should come out and take their first shots†¦for free. DPMS Firearms is already planning subsequent First Shots seminars for the spring so St. Cloud and Central Minnesota residents should visit www.del-tone-luth.com for dates and times.
