It&#039;s not; actually it is an almost totally different design, sharing only the AR&#039;s locking lug design, but not the whole bolt.  The only AR parts I know of that work on an SU are the mags, extractor assembly (claw, spring, and buffer) and any threaded muzzle devices.
The SU is piston-driven rather than being gas impingement like an AR, and has its spring in the tube above the barrel, which incidentally helps it run way cleaner than an AR.  It&#039;s actually somewhat like an AK in that regard, but again, it&#039;s an original design.  And it isn&#039;t just another AR, or an AK, either.
