Steiner have some excellent compact designs that are ideal for this, including the excellent 10.5x28 Wildlife Pro Binoculars. I do like Steiner binoculars, and the the Steiner Safari 8×30 Binoculars make ideal nature observation and hunting binoculars, but if you are looking for a pair of binoculars to actually take on safari, or to go hunting in Africa, I would also consider a pair that is more compact and thus easier to carry in your luggage.
