Indian’s Anti Gun Pat Bauer Must Be Replaced

Indiana - -(AmmoLand.com)- If gun owners in Indiana expect to advance gun rights and reclaim liberties that have been lost to senseless insidious laws that have emerged over time, then it will be necessary to overcome petty jealousies and prideful attitudes and act and work in a manner that will clear a road to our success.

In 2006 the 2nd Amendment Patriots, working with principled legislators during that General Assembly, established the first and only Lifetime Handgun License in the nation. It was a window of opportunity.

That window disappeared after the elections of 2007. The simple indisputable fact that is staring us straight in the face is that since the Democrat party acquired control of the Indiana House there has not been one single pro gun bill that was introduced by Republicans that received a hearing for consideration.

Even senate bills could not get passed the fortress walls that Speaker Pat Bauer erected such as Sen. Johnny Nugent’s SB 11 that would have allowed carry to the workplace.

Not only was there not one Democrat in either House or Senate that introduced a pro gun bill, but the Democratic senators who voted for SB 11 did so, in my opinion, in order to get a favorable rating from the NRA. Our state senator in our district who has told Margie and me countless times that he could never support a measure that would allow people to have their guns in their cars at the workplace curiously voted for the bill. Was it because he was confident that his companions in the House would see to it that it would not get a hearing?

There is no doubt that we have weak incumbents and candidates in both parties, their votes proclaim that. However, the Indiana Republican party has a greater balance of individuals who have supported pro gun initiatives.

If the Democrats maintain control of the House in this coming election there will be no pro gun bills that will ever get beyond first readings for the next 10 years minimum due to the fact that there will be redistricting. You can take that to the bank! Our field of play is at the state and local level races.

I know there are some good Republican challengers such as Kyle Hupfer who was the former DNR Director and while so he initiated the proposition to allow licensed gun owners to carry in state parks and on DNR property. That ultimately was signed into law by Gov. Daniels.

Kyle is running against incumbent Democrat Scott Reske in District 37. As I said there are some incumbents currently in the Democrat House who would want to put their name on a bill just for the sake of getting a favorable rating. Getting Kyle elected to office in District 37 would be one step in eradicating that problem.

Indiana House District 37 consists of the southern third of Madison County, including the southern half of Anderson. Among the communities in the district are Anderson, Pendleton, Ingalls, Lapel, Markleville, Edgewood and Chesterfield.

Let’s make a decision here people. We either trade off pride and philosophical ideas and look at this from a practical standpoint, or we allow our opponents to out smart and out maneuver us.

10 years is a long time. It’s our choice. If we choose wisely then let’s get to work at motivating those around us.

There’s a lady in Indiana Congressional District 3 in the Ft. Wayne area who is seeking to run against Rep. Mark Souder. Her name is Rachel Gubb and here is her web site http://www.politicalgateway.com/cand.php?id=1496 I would recommend anyone who is currently holding office at any level or seeking to run for office at any level or anyone who is appointed to office for that matter to read her site on issues and her position. If they cannot identify with that then they need to reevaluate themselves.

2nd Amendment Patriot meeting is Saturday August 29th at 6 PM at the West Side Sportsman’s Club on Peerless Rd. Secretary of Treasurer Richard Mourdock will be our guest speaker. Please bring soda pops or a dessert or side dish. Thanks.
