Can’t Sit In A Stand – Try Still Hunting For Deer
Bass Pro Shops - -(AmmoLand.com)- If you are not the type to set in a stand or blind waiting for a deer to come by, you need to try still hunting.
Slow down and try to sound like a deer, a turkey, or a squirrel as you move through the woods. Continued movement and unnatural sounds will spook a deer in a heartbeat.
Native Americans always hunted with the sun behind them, hunted upwind or crosswind, and used shadows and natural cover to disappear while they searched for deer and so should you.
Look into cover at different angles with eyes and binoculars for pieces of a deer not the whole deer. Be very careful of your movements because a deer’s sight is almost as good of defense as its sense of smell.
Be patient, rest where you can watch trails, and dress comfortably for lots of movement. Your odds will be higher for taking a deer than from a treestand but it’s a fun, exciting challenge.
