Washington, DC --(AmmoLand.com)- Annually, fishing and hunting contribute more than $190 billion to our nation’s economy – a provocative consideration in today’s troubling financial climate. Likewise, businesses that provide services and products to sportsmen – guides, outfitters, gear stores, motels, cafes and gas stations – form the lifeblood of many towns and communities.

Central to this sustainable economy are America’s 58.5 million acres of national forest roadless areas, which offer high-quality fish and wildlife habitat and some of the best remaining hunting and fishing available on federal public lands.

Conscientious backcountry management can maintain strong economic engines and supply stable jobs associated with hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreation, all while providing citizens with exceptional lands and waters on which to enjoy this outdoor heritage.

As millions of Americans head outdoors to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day, learn firsthand why sportsmen, businesses and hunting and fishing groups support the federal government’s maintaining the maximum acreages of roadless areas – and why they have united in great numbers in “Banking on the Backcountry.”
