It is very important to practice, and to really understand that you are carrying not just a weapon, but a deadly weapon. As another reader commented, please discuss this decision with your family. Your wife (or husband) needs to be aware that you are packing, and they can be invaluable in telling you about your sleeping habits!!! I have used sleeping aids in the past, and I know I get loopy before I fall asleep. Absolutely NOT the state of mind one should be in when sitting next to a loaded gun. Choosing to carry should always be allowed by willing and law-abiding Americans, but know that it is a big deal!

excellent article. I practiced around the house and asked my wife if she noticed anything different about me.The first day of carrying, we went to the mall. I told her I was going into another store to find a vest. She asked me "wouldn't it help if you had "it" on you?", I replied that I have had it with me all day.The "Always" factor is quite right. Not only do you have to train/condition your reaction skills, you have to retrain your entire life set, values and they way you conduct yourself in everyday life.Side note: discuss this decision with your significant other and or family as well.

Interesting points of view.
