The FBI either approves the check instantly because, according to their records, there is not problem. Or they deny it until they can make the determination, which I believe can take several days. I don't believe they have to destroy the records until they have made their decision. The gun of choice of terrorists is fully automatic and bought on the black market. In most cases the terrorists don't use guns at all, but explosive devices that they can make themselves. Other than Fort Hood, which all the authorities are tipping over themselves to deny was terrorism, I can't recall a terrorist incident in this country involving guns, especially non-fully automatic firearms.

This is total B.S. Are they serious? If they are known terrorists, is that not a felony offense? Suspected terrorists(?), if they are suspected, then there is already reasonable doubt. Hmm. I've read articles about the BATFE storming houses and residences because of "reasonable" doubt, in the wee hours of the morning, for both suspected criminals and people that actually commited crimes. Majority of the times, without warrants in hand. But I guess since it wouldn't be POLITICALLY CORRECT to apprehend a SUSPECTED terrorist because this Country puts sooooo much emphasis on being TOLERANT of other peoples culture and not to invade their privacy simply because there is reasonable doubt, they have no choice but to keep infringing on ours. If they want more time....give 'em 25 hours before they destroy records. No deal? How about scrap the whole NICS system and let everyone pack heat. That way, when situations arise, the judge AND jury will be there to accomadate. And no, I'm not a Gung Ho, let the bullets fly, type of person. As anyone that frequents these sites and has even an ounce of common sense knows that even ONE willing and able armed citizen can put the odds of safety and justice in the publics favor.

“Since nothing in current Federal law prohibits them from purchasing guns”?
