Little Chute, Wisconsin - -(AmmoLand.com)- ICarry.org a grassroots educational resource dedicated to Illinois and Wisconsin’s transition to right-to-carry states – has organized its first Wisconsin open carry event.  Responsible firearms owners and volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items to benefit a local food pantry in Little Chute on Saturday, January 2.

The food drive for the needy is part of an ICarry.org ongoing effort to educate the public in Wisconsin that the open carry of pistols by responsible citizens is both lawful and beneficial to society.  Wisconsin and Illinois are the only two states in the country lacking a “concealed carry” provision to allow responsible women and men to carry for their own protection and that of their family and loved ones.

Since criminals ignore the current firearms laws, the laws only affect responsible citizens – creating victims.  As Wisconsin and Illinois complete this transition to right-to-carry, our two states will become safer from violent criminals.  ICarry.org seeks to see this transition happen as smoothly as possible to ensure that the rights and freedoms of everyone are upheld, that the public knows the laws, that individuals voluntarily obtain training, and that right-to-carry becomes as big of a success as it has been in every other state.

The food drive will be held Saturday, January 2, at Larry’s Piggly Wiggly – 1901 E. Main St. in Little Chute, Wisconsin.  Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food donations from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  Please visit www.ICarry.org now for more information on this event, its sponsors, and similar open carry events to be held in Wisconsin.

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota’s Turn in Poachers (TIPs) Internet Web page is getting a facelift, including the addition of links to unsolved cases.

TIPs is a cooperative effort between the Game, Fish and Parks Department and the non-profit Wildlife Protection, Inc.

The Web page has been around for several years and provides a historical perspective of the TIPs program in addition to keeping the public informed on the statistical data. It will now feature information on high-profile cases being investigated by wildlife law enforcement.

According to TIPs Coordinator, Charlie Wharton, this addition was prompted by two recent South Dakota poaching cases. “The killing of a moose in the Black Hills in early fall and the more recent case involving a bighorn sheep in Custer State Park provided the impetus to reach out to Web users for information. In the past, TIPs has sought out general information on wildlife violations; but, with this addition, we are taking our cases directly to the public.”

The first case being featured on the Web site involves the illegal killing of a mature bighorn sheep in Custer State Park, near Game Lodge Campground and Creek Side Resort on Friday, Nov. 27. The animal’s head and cape were taken, while the carcass was left to rot.

The importance of this case is multiplied because this mature ram was one of only nine that live in the park.

Wharton encourages individuals to check back on a regular basis to view cases under investigation. “Our wildlife belongs to all South Dakotans. By providing information that brings poachers to justice, the public can help solve crimes and protect this resource for future generations.”
