Senator Aanestad Targeted for “Legislator of the Year” by California Rifle and Pistol Association

SACRAMENTO, CA --(AmmoLand.com)- Senator Sam Aanestad (R-Grass Valley) has been named “California Legislator of the Year” by the prestigious California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) for his unwavering support of constitutional rights guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment while serving in the State Legislature. Aanestad will receive the honor this weekend at the CRPA’s 135th Anniversary Gala at the Hilton Hotel in Irvine (Orange County).

“I cannot think of anyone who is more deserving of this award and recognition than Senator Aanestad,” said John Fields, who serves as Executive Director of the CRPA. “He’s a Senator who has consistently rolled up his sleeves and slugged it out in the trenches on behalf of all rifle and pistol enthusiasts in California.”

Senator Aanestad is receiving this measure – in part – for successfully authoring legislation last year that corrected a number of problems identified by the California Department of Justice and others with the state’s centralized list of exempt federal firearms licensees. SB 175 clarified the permissible activities of gunsmiths so they could engage in their work while still being part of the centralized license program.

The measure also removed some exemptions from the centralized list program and required that the shipment of assault weapons, machine guns, and firearms — which are destructive devices — were subject to the state’s verification process.

“I am both pleased and honored to be recognized by the CRPA for my efforts on behalf of all rifle and pistol enthusiasts in California,” said Senator Aanestad. “The 2nd Amendment was placed into the U.S. Constitution for a legitimate reason – yet that hasn’t stopped some elected leaders from attempting to chip away at the rights that we all enjoy as Americans. We must remain ever vigilant to protect these rights from assault.”

As the senior and most conservative member of the California State Legislature, Senator Aanestad has been recognized and saluted by a wide variety of organizations for his legislative efforts. He calls the CRPA honor, “special.”

“If we had a Sam Aanestad sitting in every chair of the State Senate – the State of California would be in great shape,” said Fields.

The CRPA was founded in 1875 and is dedicated to defending the rights of law-abiding citizens to responsibly use firearms for self-defense and the defense of their loved ones, for sport, and for all other legal activities. It is the official state association of the National Rifle Association. The organization’s 65,000 members include law enforcement officers, prosecutors, professionals, firearm experts and the general public.

Jackson, WI --(AmmoLand.com)- The unbelievable growth of Armed American Radio continues! Last week I welcomed Modesto, CA and now Statesboro, GA joins AAR beginning on 3-14-2010 along with Delray Beach, FL on the same night.

In addition it looks like Tulsa Ok may be adding us to their LIVE lineup as early as April 1st…I’ll keep you posted on station and dates. Last weeks show was outstanding as I was joined in studio by 3 of the most down to earth folks you could imagine. Their story is all over the internet and hitting some major news outlets.

Seems JP Mitchell and Matt Brannan were dining at the Waffle House in Kennesaw, GA a couple of months back when a scout for a heavily armed robbery crew came wandering in. Unbeknownst to JP and Matt, who were alert and paying attention to the “out of place” young man, their OPENLY CARRIED handguns sent the scout outside to inform the crew there were guns in the store. An alert waitress, Lynn noticed the suspicious car and its occupants and called police.

The crew was arrested in the parking lot with rifles, handguns, masks and other “tools of the trade”! Seems during the interrogation, they admitted the openly carried weapons had kept them from going in to rob the place until the “guns” left! Imagine that!
