Thibodaux, LA --(AmmoLand.com)- WHAT: ICORE’s 2010 Southern Regional Revolver Championship sponsored by Smith & Wesson will host top wheelgun shooters from around the region and across the country.

Upwards of 50 shooters, including several Masters, the highest skill level in the sport, are expected to attend. This is the first of six regional revolver competitions sponsored by firearms maker Smith & Wesson.

WHO:
International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) – an organization dedicated to promoting international revolver competition.

Shooters will negotiate 10 stages putting an estimated 14,000 rounds down range as they compete for the regional title in ICORE’s Open, Limited and Retro divisions. Additionally honors will be awarded in the categories of High Lady, Senior, Super Senior and Junior.

The 2010 Southern Regional Revolver Championship is expected to draw shooters from throughout Louisiana as well as Arkansas, California, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Canada. Representatives of Team Smith & Wesson, Annette and Elliot Aysen (La.), Jerry Miculek (La.) and Tony Phan (Texas) will also be competing.

About ICORE:
The International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) was founded in 1991 by Mike and Sharon Higashi, long time active shooters in all the handgun sports. Envisioned as an alternative to the “arms race” that was occurring in the other action shooting sports at that time, a revolver-only competition would allow even the most basic equipment to be used and still provide enjoyment and satisfaction.
