Covington, GA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Team SIG Champion Shooter, Max Michel, edged out the country’s top shooters to win the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Area 6 Championship held April 16-18, 2010 in Covington, GA.

Michel was the 100% match winner in the Open Class, edging out former Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) teammate K.C. Eusebio for first place with a final match score of 1191.4037. Michel has participated in the Area 6 Championships over the past nine years, and has won eight of the nine championships he has participated in. This is his seventh consecutive Area 6 Championship.

“After coming in second at the US National Steel Championships, it is nice to be back on track with my seventh straight win here at the USPSA Area 6 Championship,” said Michel, SIG SAUER Manager of Competitive Shooting Activities and Captain of the SIG SAUER Shooting Team.

“With 108 competitors in the Open Class, including 12 Grand Masters and 15 Masters, this is easily one of the largest and hardest competitions in the country. All the top guys come out. The competition at this level is incredible and I have all the respect in the world for my competitors and look forward to competing with them again next year.”

The USPSA Area Championships are the premiere practical shooting events in the world. USPSA remains committed to the continued growth of their matches as quality, fun, safe events that define excellence for all shooting sports.

Max Michel’s next competition is the USPSA Area 4 Championships in Princeton, LA on May 20-23, 2010.
