Vermont – -(Ammoland.com)- NRA-ILA would like to applaud the on-going pro-gun and pro-hunting advocacy of Vermont State Representative Steven Adams (R-Windsor-4).

Rep. Adams boasts an excellent, pro-gun voting record and, in 2008, was not only endorsed by the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF), but received an “A+” grade. Rep. Adams has consistently gone “above and beyond” in his efforts to proactively support pro-gun and pro-hunting freedoms in Vermont. Rep. Adams has sponsored many bills benefiting sportsmen, including range protection legislation in 2006. He is currently the sponsor of a current mentor hunting bill–House Bill 243.

HB 243 would establish a mentored hunting license that would allow prospective hunters to try their hand at hunting before completing a hunter education course. Apprentice hunters would be required to be directly supervised in the field by a mentor who is at least 21 years old and who holds a valid hunting license. Experience in more than two-dozen other states shows that this mentored hunting program is exceptionally safe and will bring many new hunters into the field. As of this writing, this NRA-backed bill has passed the House and will now head to the Senate for consideration.

Rep. Adams is a true friend of the Second Amendment and an ardent supporter of our firearm rights and hunting heritage. Citizens of the great state of Vermont are fortunate to have him in their corner, and should be sure to contact Rep. Adams and thank him for his strong advocacy and ongoing support on their behalf.
