Tips For Using Your Day 6 PlotWatcher Camera

Day 6 Outdoors

Day 6 Outdoors

Columbus, GA – -(Ammoland.com)- Those of you who own a Day 6 PlotWatcher Video Camera know how valuable it is for helping you decide when and where you should hunt.

The PlotWatcher videos daytime game activity around a potential hunting location from dawn ’til dusk during the days leading up to your hunt.

When you watch the video, it’s as if you’ve sat in that location watching it for yourself.

To put the odds even more in your favor, the folks at Day 6 have some tips for using your PlotWatfcher that will increase your productivity even more.

Set the camera up to review possible stand locations, fields, roads and power lines. Unlike traditional trail cameras, the Plotwatcher lets you see animals whether they are 30 ft or 330 ft away. By setting your camera up in these locations, you can pinpoint entry and exit spots, directions of travel and game activity at distances never before imagined.

If possible, place your camera in a northward-facing or southward-facing position to keep the sun from backlighting your subject and making it a non-descript silhouette in the photo.

If you put the PlotWatcher in open areas such as fields, food plots, clear cuts, power lines etc., set your camera to take footage every 10 seconds. In these open areas, every 10 seconds is sufficient to get great, informative video. If you set up the PlotWatcher in thicker cover, choose every five seconds to double your chance of getting great pictures of the animals you seek.

If you plan to wait a week before retrieving your PlotWatcher, you may choose to utilize the midday skip option so that you can get video of the most recent daylight hours around your hunting locations. If you know you’re going to retrieve your videos within a week, you may choose to let the PlotWatcher record all day. You may find more game activity in the midday hours than you expect.

Make sure you wear rubber boots and find the most low-impact route you can to the camera’s location. Also, spray down the camera with a scent-killing spray, but make sure not to get spray on the lens since those sprays can leave behind a residue that can cover the lens and blur your pictures.

When retrieving the usb drive, make sure you have an extra drive on hand and always carry a fresh set of batteries so you don’t miss any activity.

Try placing a Plotwatcher camera at another hunting location while you hunt. Then you can check the camera when you leave to find out what happened in this other location while you were away. The camera can help you pinpoint hot spots much quicker than hunting them by yourself.

See Waddell impressively down a bruiser in Kansas while battling a gusting wind storm. Celebrate with the Booger Bottom native as he tags his biggest whitetail to date in the Hoosier state. Watch as the Road Trips crew takes turkey after turkey in the Lonestar State and across the Southeast.

No wonder Road Trips was the winner of Outdoor Channel’s 2010 Best Turkey Footage.

But the action doesn’t stop on land. This year, the team took to the water as well for some summer bow-fishing fun.
