Springfield, VA –-(Ammoland.com)- Today, Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate in Kansas. GOA-PVF Vice-Chairman Tim Macy issued the following statement to members of the organization:

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate.

As a member of the House of Representatives, Todd Tiahrt has given the anti-gunners fits. And that is because Todd is more than just a pro-gun vote-he is also a leader in the fight to protect the right to keep and bear arms.

In each of past seven years, Rep. Tiahrt has successfully attached an amendment to appropriation bills to prevent cities bringing frivolous lawsuits against gun makers and anti-gun organizations from gaining access to confidential law enforcement firearms trace data.

Congressman Tiahrt was a bold leader for the Second Amendment before he was in Congress, introducing the first ever concealed-carry law in Kansas in 1993

What most Kansans do not know, however, is that while Congressman Tiahrt has always fought for our 2nd Amendment rights, Congressman Moran has a record of undermining our right to keep and bear arms.

In June, 1999, Rep. Moran voted in the U.S. House to criminalize the mere possession of many semi-automatic firearms, including shotguns and rifles, by people under the age of eighteen. This bill would have also criminalized young people who were target shooting with a parent or guardian.

Rep. Tiahrt, who was also in Congress at that time, stood with 68 other pro-gunners in opposition to the bill.

In that same congressional session, Rep. Moran voted against an amendment that would have repealed the restrictive gun ban in Washington, D.C. Again, Rep. Tiahrt stood up and voted to protect the Second Amendment.

Congressman Moran also voted to make it more difficult to sell firearms at gun shows. These gun shows are the lifeline of our industry and we see this vote as a direct assault.

Also troubling was the case of Patricia Stoneking, President of the Kansas State Rifle Association and member of Gun Owners of America, whose organization was threatened by Moran’s most senior staffer should Moran get elected. We know Patricia Stoneking to be a serious businesswoman, a strong gun rights activist and an honorable individual. Congressman Moran’s tacit support of these actions is reprehensible.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Ms. Stoneking in her support of Todd Tiahrt for Senate and also in her support of our 2nd Amendment rights.

GOA-PVF urges all gun owners and sportsmen to vote for Todd Tiahrt on Tuesday, August 3rd, and to encourage their pro-gun family, neighbors and friends to do the same. If we all join together as Second Amendment supporters, we can help to elect a strong, pro-gun activist to the United States Senate.
