Springfield, VA --(Ammoland.com)- Today, Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate in Kansas. GOA-PVF Vice-Chairman Tim Macy issued the following statement to members of the organization:

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate.

As a member of the House of Representatives, Todd Tiahrt has given the anti-gunners fits. And that is because Todd is more than just a pro-gun vote-he is also a leader in the fight to protect the right to keep and bear arms.

In each of past seven years, Rep. Tiahrt has successfully attached an amendment to appropriation bills to prevent cities bringing frivolous lawsuits against gun makers and anti-gun organizations from gaining access to confidential law enforcement firearms trace data.

Congressman Tiahrt was a bold leader for the Second Amendment before he was in Congress, introducing the first ever concealed-carry law in Kansas in 1993

What most Kansans do not know, however, is that while Congressman Tiahrt has always fought for our 2nd Amendment rights, Congressman Moran has a record of undermining our right to keep and bear arms.

In June, 1999, Rep. Moran voted in the U.S. House to criminalize the mere possession of many semi-automatic firearms, including shotguns and rifles, by people under the age of eighteen. This bill would have also criminalized young people who were target shooting with a parent or guardian.

Rep. Tiahrt, who was also in Congress at that time, stood with 68 other pro-gunners in opposition to the bill.

In that same congressional session, Rep. Moran voted against an amendment that would have repealed the restrictive gun ban in Washington, D.C. Again, Rep. Tiahrt stood up and voted to protect the Second Amendment.

Congressman Moran also voted to make it more difficult to sell firearms at gun shows. These gun shows are the lifeline of our industry and we see this vote as a direct assault.

Also troubling was the case of Patricia Stoneking, President of the Kansas State Rifle Association and member of Gun Owners of America, whose organization was threatened by Moran’s most senior staffer should Moran get elected. We know Patricia Stoneking to be a serious businesswoman, a strong gun rights activist and an honorable individual. Congressman Moran’s tacit support of these actions is reprehensible.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Ms. Stoneking in her support of Todd Tiahrt for Senate and also in her support of our 2nd Amendment rights.

GOA-PVF urges all gun owners and sportsmen to vote for Todd Tiahrt on Tuesday, August 3rd, and to encourage their pro-gun family, neighbors and friends to do the same. If we all join together as Second Amendment supporters, we can help to elect a strong, pro-gun activist to the United States Senate.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is a project of Gun Owners of America. Paid for by Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. --(Ammoland.com)- The 2010-2011 Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations Guide is available online and in print announces the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division.

This guide provides information on season dates, bag limits, hunting licenses, wildlife management areas and much more and is available to view, download and print at www.gohuntgeorgia.com . Printed copies are available at Wildlife Resources Game Management and Law Enforcement offices and license vendors throughout Georgia.

“The Hunting Seasons and Regulations publication is designed to better inform hunters on the laws and regulations for hunting in Georgia,” says John Bowers, Wildlife Resources Division Assistant Chief of Game Management.

“We encourage all hunters to review the publication each year for any changes to their favorite hunting areas, seasons or activities.”

Members of the Board of Natural Resources enact hunting regulations by acting on recommendations made by the division’s professional wildlife biologists and field personnel. Georgia’s game and fish laws are enacted by the elected members of the General Assembly.

Changes for the upcoming season include:

  • In an effort to encourage youth participation in hunting and enhance youth hunting opportunities, the Georgia General Assembly passed SB 474. This legislation included language that establishes a special youth hunting opportunity that allows youth under 16 years of age to hunt deer during the primitive weapons season with any firearm legal for hunting deer. This includes primitive weapons hunts on wildlife management areas.
  • Tugaloo State Park, near Lavonia on Lake Hartwell, hosts a quota archery deer hunt in December 2010. Apply online at www.gohuntgeorgia.com .
