There’s a civilian model that fits most Glock models called the CG-1. It looks the same as the G-1, has the 4 pic rails and the folding vertical grip, but doesn’t require the ATF tax stamp. I believe it has something to do with the barrel being a little bit longer. I think they’ve also got a model called the CG-2 (last time I checked, it only works with the 9mm Glock 17) that has an even longer, more squared-off barrel. I understand the comments that have been made about it being impractical for LE and military applications, and though I can’t speak for military, there are plenty of LEOs that work motorcycle patrol where, trying to carry a shotgun or AR-style carbine would be a no-go. The Roni platform is smaller and would store much easier than most alternatives. And who wouldn’t mind only having to keep up with one kind of ammo? Also, for the comments about wanting a high-cap magazine (which I understand, you’d want that option with a carbine), Glock makes a 22rd magazine for their .40s&w models and I think a 30+ magazine for the 9, you’ve got an extra mag holder that comes standard on the Roni, plus if you’re using the same pistol that you normally carry while on duty, you could always slap in a magazine from the mag holster on your duty belt. FAB Defense’s Mako conversion kits cost anywhere from $600-$900, not to mention look like the old Nerfball guns my kids play with. I think some folks need to give this kit a try before being so judgmental.
