It was one of those, if I have enough parts laying around I can build another gun situations! So I ordered a Choate stock with extra Remington screws from MidwayUSA. During the telcon order I asked about getting a bipod mounting, screw tight piece. The answer was, “The stock comes with one.” Well, I didn’t argue – should have – and when the stock arrived after quick, pleasant, seemingly intelligent ordering it had a bipod stud running in the forend channel (3/8″ European)but it was not the screw tight, knurled knob type. In fact, it seems as if there is no way to fasten the stud that came with the stock. Add this fact; the rear, below cheek piece, side available, sling stud is loose and makes noise (Choate design flaw). So I have to call them Monday and order the right bipod screw tight mount. I hope that they will just put it in the simple, envelope US Mail and save me the expensive UPS big box, little piece shipping costs. Othewise, MidwayUSA is a fun, downright pleasure to deal with. they’ll have my business and recommendations if they follow-up tight on this issue.
