Des Moines, Iowa – -(Ammoland.com)- Six young people from Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin have been named to serve as the 2011 Brownells/NRA National Youth Shooting Sports Ambassadors.

The Youth Ambassador program, sponsored by Brownells, encourages growth of the shooting sports and increased industry support of youth firearms-training programs. The Ambassador program offers participants many benefits, including travel opportunities and the chance to meet national shooting celebrities. The 2011 Ambassadors made their first public appearance at the recently concluded 2011 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.

“During their term, these Ambassadors will provide a young person’s perspective on the shooting sports and serve as youth advisors on shooting-sports topics involving young people,” said Pete Brownell, the company’s president.

“They were nominated by some of the most important youth groups in the country to represent their organization, Brownells, and the NRA at national-level events.”

The 2011 Brownells/NRA National Youth Shooting Sports Ambassadors and the organizations they represent are:

Boy Scouts of America – Tyler Ebert, 17, from Weston, Wisconsin; National High School Rodeo – Bailey Kate Conner, 17, from Malta Bend, Missouri; Royal Rangers – Henry Jentz II, 16, from Cincinnati, Ohio; Venturing – Thomas Cunningham, 17, from Canyon, Texas; USA Shooting – Courtney Anthony, 19, from Lexington, Nebraska; NRA – Garrett Walters, 18, from Burr Oak, Michigan.

“Each of these young people embodies excellence at the scholastic level, within their communities, and also in the shooting sports. Their ideas and perspectives can help us get more youths involved in shooting, and they serve as an example of what young people can accomplish through participation in the shooting sports,” said Larry Quandahl, manager of NRA’s Youth Programs Department.
