LOS OSOS, Calif. –-(Ammoland.com)- Janae Sarabia, a 14-year-old member of the Smith & Wesson shooting team from Lompoc, Calif., claimed the Women’s Open title this weekend at the 20th Annual Smith & Wesson International Revolver Championship.

Coming off a second place finish in 2010, Sarabia dominated this year’s women’s event by winning 10 of the 14 stages and outpacing her closest rival, Smith & Wesson teammate Rachel Crow of Antioch, Calif. by just over 56 seconds.

Sarabia won the title with a final match time of 331.58 seconds.

“Janae is proving to be a rising star in revolver competition, and one that is rising through the ranks quickly. With her earlier win this year at our Southwest Regional, it’s no surprise that she came in to the IRC strong and ready to win,” said Ron Joslin of ICORE.

Crow, who is also a junior shooter and finished fifth in 2010, took second with one stage win and 387.93 seconds. The 2010 runner-up, Flora Yang of Cerritos, Calif. claimed third with two stage wins and a final time of 390.30.

Rounding out the top five were Pam Burkholder of Arvada, Colo. in fourth with a time of 446.66 and college student Sarah Irish of Dearborn, Mich. in fifth with one stage win and a time of 473.10 seconds.

Organized by the International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE), and held at Hogue Action Pistol Range at the San Luis Obispo Sportsmen’s Association, the 20th Annual Smith & Wesson International Revolver Championship drew more than 230 top revolver shooters, representing 26 states and three foreign nations. Titles were awarded in the Open, Limited or Classic divisions with scoring based on time and accuracy where time penalties are accrued for misses and shots outside the x-ring.
