Fifteen Reasons You Should Own A Gun

Which side of the gun control debate would you choose to be on?

Fifteen Reasons You Should Own A Gun

Signal Mountain, TN – -(Ammoland.com)-1. Your right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the United States of America. “Use it or lose it.”

2. George Washington said: “Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence…”

3. Bearing arms is the Christian thing to do. Jesus said: “If you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one…” (Luke 22:36 NIV)

4. Enjoying guns is not a strange weird thing, as some anti-gun people insist. People have been hunting with long guns for centuries. Shooting is an internationally recognized Olympic sport.

5. People without guns are assaulted or murdered daily by criminals who have guns. Having a gun makes you better able to defend your family.

6. If gun ownership is made illegal, criminals won’t turn in their guns. Gun control makes easy prey out of law-abiding citizens.

7. We are grateful for the police officers of our communities. However, the police can’t come to help you until AFTER a crime has been committed. Having a gun may enable you to stay alive long enough to call for help from the police.

8. American courts regularly return violent criminals to the streets to do their crimes again.

9. Guns in the home are safe, when gun owners keep guns responsibly. More children die every year in swimming pool accidents than in gun accidents.

10. It is a fact that armed American men and women prevent two million crimes every year with their guns.

11. Self-defense is more honorable and better for society than being a victim. It is up to YOU to act responsibly for your own safety, and the safety of your family.

12. It is a fact that cities which impose strict gun control create the highest assault and murder rates in America.

13. It is a fact that most gun crimes in America involve gangsters shooting other gangsters. The average gun owner never uses his or her gun to commit a crime.

14. Most states issue permits to carry concealed handguns. Men and women who get permits take gun safety classes, and have extensive criminal background checks. These people make everyone a little safer, wherever they may be.

15. The “War on Terror” is likely to be a long war. People who own guns, and who are trained to use guns responsibly, are better able to serve their country than people who are ignorant about guns.

Eleven Excuses for NOT Owning A Gun

  1. I’m too busy to take the time to learn how to handle a gun safely.
  2. I believe that all guns are evil, even in the hands of the police and soldiers.
  3. I would rather let a criminal kill me or my family than try to stop him with a gun.
  4. I believe it was wrong for America’s founding fathers to use guns to overthrow the rule of the British. We should have stayed a colony.
  5. I believe it was wrong for American soldiers to use guns to rescue innocent men and women from the Nazi death camps.
  6. I believe that I will never need a gun to defend myself or my family, because the police will be constantly watching over me to make sure that I will never be in danger.
  7. I trust our courts to keep violent criminals off the streets. It’s not possible that I will ever be attacked by a criminal.
  8. If our government decides to make all gun owners register every gun they have, and then decides to confiscate all privately owned guns, I still don’t think we have anything to worry about. I know other countries have become dictatorships, but that could never happen in America.
  9. I don’t know much about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and I don’t have any desire to learn more. I’ve heard that the 2nd Amendment guarantees the right of Americans to keep and bear arms, but I really don’t care.
  10. Quite a few criminals have used guns, therefore the government should take guns away from all the good people who don’t commit crimes.
  11. I don’t care if my children will grow up in a free America. Things are pretty good for ME right now, and that’s all I care about.
The USA Wants You To Own A Gun!
The USA Wants You To Own A Gun!

THINK ABOUT THIS…
Owning a gun for self-defense is like having fire insurance or health insurance. You don’t really think your house will burn down, but it might. You don’t really think you will have a catastrophic car accident, and huge hospital bills, but you might. You hope you will never need your insurance, but you have it just in case. The same goes for having a gun for self-defense. It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it, and not have it.

It is also important to own a gun simply to preserve your rights as an American citizen. With the advent of international Islamic extremist terrorism, we are living in a new world, different from any we have experienced before.

It is not difficult to imagine that the President, or Congress, in a well-meaning attempt to prevent another “9-11,” would take steps that would nullify the Bill of Rights almost overnight.

In the interests of “national safety,” many Americans would unthinkingly accept the curtailment of their civil liberties. This might mark the end of the free America we have known for over 200 years. It has happened in other countries. It would be naive and short-sighted to believe that “it could never happen here.”

We have also seen the disturbing sight of well-meaning public officials actually confiscating the firearms of law-abiding citizens in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, with gangs roaming the streets…exactly the time when the citizens need their self-defense weapons the most! These officials are well-meaning, but foolish, dangerous, and in violation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The only way to retain our Constitutional rights is to USE them. By owning guns, American men and women are taking concrete action in support of their rights and freedoms, and preserving those rights and freedoms for future generations.

It’s just a small step, but it’s very important. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself, to your family, to your community and to America’s future generations, to own a gun?

I think we should own guns because of cra cra people like some of you!

Andy Simondet

Aby, your a beautiful person with a bright mind. Folks like you should breed. Keep the good DNA in the gene pool.

Winchester

Guns don’t protect you but you can use one to protect yourself. Jesus doesn’t protect us because of free will as God did not protect him from death as the term “deliver us from evil” doesn’t mean here but the afterlife. We don’t ask him for protection but for the strength to avoid temptation and do his will. Having said that, five intruders enter your home and you have your bible and your gun. God has provided the means to produce both. Which do you reach for?

5m1les

Why is the choice between walking the old lady and leaving her alone is not just as much free will as munging the old lady or leaving her alone. Evil is not required for free will it is possible for a all powerful god to make people incapable of harming each other but also have free will in all other cases. Your god also determines which one you would chose anyway the existence omniscience requires a predictable universes other wise he could not know whether you would choose a or b that is how that has to work. So you… Read more »

Wild Bill

@5m, What old lady? There is no such word as “munging”, so what are you blabbering about. “Your god determines…” is predestination, the opposite of free will. Why don’t you just say that you don’t want to be restricted by religion rather than trying to theorize? Believe what ever you want. That is free will, and we don’t care either way. Have a Merry Christmas.

Winchester

Hi Bill. There is an argument in there but it’s hard to ascertain what it is. Complete sentences, punctuation, and an understanding of the teachings of the religion I didn’t even mention would help……..and he calls me illiterate. ? My religion doesn’t dictate that evil be present for free will to exist. I don’t know why God doesn’t wipe out evil. (I don’t get a reply when I pray). All that is I need to do is believe in the Lord and praise. PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE AMMUNITION!!!!

Wild Bill

@Win, Merry Faith Based Christmas. I’d like to say more, but the the animals need feeding, just now.

Winchester

Thank you Wild Bill. You have interjected on 5m where I abandoned the thought that we are all Gods children. I’m very patient, but the attack with no provocation gets the same reply. At some point parents put kids in front of a device and manners went out the door. I don’t think they read this forum correctly. It’s 15 reasons you should own a gun. Dear Moms & Dads: If you can enter your child’s school after classes begin without being challenged so can a lead head with an AR-15.
All of which poses THREE issues needing solutions as quickly as anything in America can be solved:
1. Secure all elementary and high schools,
2. Increase cooperation between local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies as regards identificaation and apprenhension of lead heads who should not have weapons,
3. Answer the basic question “Why do private citizens need guns”?
Dave Henrie – Medium

Andrew Simondet

Ok. The gun debate has picked up intelligence again. Even though im guessing im on the other side of the fence. Somewhat. Lets see. Your very correct. A lead head (mental incap) has been able to enter any classroom at any time since Columbine. At the same time, you can not board a plane without scrutiny because of boxcutters and muslim pilots who didnt train to land a plane, just fly it. So, keep in mind the comment about private citizens and guns. Your first two points i am in agreement. Secure the schools like the coward who had a… Read more »

I’m an eighth grader, and this is the most retarded thing I’ve heard in my life, this comment and article. I’m writing a paper on gun control right now, and I am not supposed to take a side of the argument. However after reading anything this terrible and stupid, it is hard to even remotely side with people saying that they should legally be allowed to own a semi automatic or automatic rifle. No one is going to go hunt with an AR-15, and a handgun can protect ones self just as effectively in self defense. No one should be… Read more »

@Oldvet, may I use what you’ve said in a report I´m writing in school, please?

Billy

What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this website is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Andy Simondet

Billy: HOOK, LINE, SINKER. Who’s the idiot?

Andy Simondet

BILLY: your retort, I have to tell you, is so good I can’t resist giving you the credit. It’s such a fantastic upper cut and it fits like a puzzle piece. “Everyone on this website is now dumber for having listened to it, may God have mercy on your soul.” That punchline had me on the floor, laughing, hurting. The gun debate was too lame to continue so I thought I would switch gears to comedy. Oldvet picked up the truth in it, but I confess to some eyebrow raising untruths. Ok…lies. I said it. Pandora’s box is already open. You can confiscate all you want and there will be more manufacturing to replace what’s lost. If not legally then a very lucrative black market will emerge. Utopia types are reaching too far to suggest that they can solve gun crimes with a simple idea for a complex problem. 5m1les

A pencil or a fork or a spoon has secondary uses other then as a weapon that are vital to society which is why you cant ban them a gun does not share that characteristic.

Wild Bill

@5M1less, That is not true, A firearm need not even be fired to meet its secondary goals of wealth conservation or art. I have several firearms that if I shot them it would decrease their value, but unfired they increase value faster than gold. Some pretty. Some historic. Some belonged to someone important.

michcle

I think we should have the right to own guns because of crazy people

Tristin Ray

The problem arises where people with mental disorders aren’t diagnosed and then have possession of guns because there is nothing stopping them.

bob

how can anybody read all of this information and not want a gun

Leo

I read it and laughed at how stupid the points were, based purely on assumption and no fact. The only fact was that 200,000 people last year were saved which is first wrong, and second irrelevant because they were saving themselves from other “law-abiding citizens’ with guns. If they banned guns no not all guns would be taken away but many would and you can move slowly from there until you have a safer environment.

Larry Brigden

Where is the evidence that ‘they were saving themselves from ‘other law-abiding citizens with guns’? Clearly, they were not defending themselves against ‘other law abiding citizens with guns’. They were generally defending themselves against quite the opposite sort of people, against violent, law breaking people. The sort of people who should be in prison and properly punished if the government had the backbone to do its job. But instead of taking real measures to address gun violence by punishing it severely, the government decides instead to attack the law abiding gun owners who find the need to defend themselves, precisely… Read more »

Highest deaths by guns, also tend to exist in the highest violent crime states, which also typically has highest suicide rates (#1 used item being a gun). And in most of the top states for gun deaths, gun registration is very low or not required at all for various weapons (handguns, rifles, etc) and gun control regulation is low. I’m responding to a 4 year old comment I know, but 1 in 240 Americans are not murdered in a year. The figure is 4 in 100,000. This misinformation is percisely why gun activists somehow think that guns are absolutely essential to own. I, for one, absolutely respect the 2nd Amendment. Every law-abiding American holds the right to own a gun. What gun restriction activists are pushing for are a ban on automatic weapons and restricting unfit people from owning a powerful weapon. I see absolutely no harm in that.

Andy Simondet

Wayne, gun activists don’t know anything about what they want to ban. You are incorrect, we do not have automatic weapons. They are semi-automatic guns. We don’t use them as weapons. Also, they are less powerful than previous battle types. The military weapon of old was a deer round. The modern AR-15/M-16 has a much smaller projectile and approximately 2/3rds less powder charge. In the strategy of winning a battle it was determined that this smaller round weighed less in bulk, thus more to use. If that less potent round wounded a soldier, then one or two of his kind… Read more »

There seems to be this bizarre opinion that there are is only black and white in the nature if criminality. That somehow the "innocent" must defend themselves against the violent. The very idea of this is incredibly false. With firearm legality it is creating the situation in which murder and genocide is viable. If everyone owned a gun, a robber would know that he will die if he breaks in a house. Robbers don’t exactly have a goal of being shot, so they should be smart enough to know they may die for breaking in a house. Not worth dieing to steal. If we lose guns robbers will be much safer to rob others of prized possessions, if someone breaks in my house I WILL shoot him untill he is on the ground in a puddle of blood. Banning guns dosent mean robbers and criminals will give up their guns.

Joshua Parrish

Cristian makes a great point. But let me add on. Even if guns were banned, people would always find a way to illegally sell them, or steal them. When alcohol prohibition was established, did people stop selling and/or buying alcohol? No. In fact it led to a great rise of even more violence and criminality. So do you think the same will happen with guns? I sure do.

Fraps

It’s a fact that countries which have banned guns and have done so for years have a massively reduced rate of shootings. When everyone carries a gun, all it takes is for Jason at work to be pissed off one too many times by his boss, and suddenly someone’s dead. It’s the normal people who aren’t thinking straight that truly terrify me, and it’s very difficult for a person like that to obtain a gun in the time it takes them to calm down and think twice. Well, I live in Australia too and I think that it is criminal that we do not have the right to effective self defense by the use of a firearm. Hey Bob,
Hahahahahahahahaha. I don’t know which is funnier your statement ( “…The purpose of guns should be for either hunting,… Shooting practice for sports such as the Olympics or for the armed forces. It absolutely should not be for the scared plebeians…”) OR YOU Thinking that YOU can dictate to us. Please stop. You are making my stomach hurt.

datboi

I did not tell him what to say. This is an awfully old thread. Finally, you write like another troll that I have read. What other names have you used?

datboi

Actually, this is my first time commenting here tbh. Honestly, I’m just being satirical and sarcastic because a) this website doesn’t cite sources and is b) funny to read because it’s poorly written. Also, I’m surprised/flattered(?) that someone replied to this old thread.
