FORT BENNING, Ga. –-(Ammoland.com)- Two-man sniper teams will participate at the 2011 International Sniper Competition and Symposium Sept. 23 through 30 at Fort Benning.

The teams represent active-duty Army units, the Army National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon Defense Police, the San Diego police department and the countries of Canada, Germany and Ireland.

The competition will take place on firing ranges on Fort Benning and events will be conducted continuously over a 72-hour period between Sept. 27 and Sept. 29.

The events will test their physical fitness and their mastery of sniper skills to include target detection, target discrimination, stalking, land navigation and marksmanship.

The competition will be preceded by a symposium focused on sharing tactics, techniques, procedures and lessons learned from subject matter experts who have recent operational experiences.

Many of the competition’s events are spectator-friendly. The event is open to the public. There is no admission fee and parking is free.

No vehicle access pass is required to enter the installation, although drivers and passengers in the vehicle over the age of 17 may be asked to present identification at the access gate.
