Missoula, MT –-(Ammoland.com)- Many of you have asked me if HR 822, much in the media, is a good thing or a bad thing.

Here’s my net, short take:

In the short term, in its current form, HR 822 is a good thing. In the long run, HR 822 could turn out to be a bad thing. However, none of that matters much because HR 822 is unlikely to be approved by the Senate AND by Obama.

The only chance for HR 822 to become effective is, after having gotten simple majorities in the U.S. House and Senate, it is attached as an amendment to some other piece of “must have” legislation going to Obama, which is how carry in National Parks was done.

In any such sausage-making, it is important to watch how an idea can morph with changes in the process.

So, stay tuned, be watchful, and don’t get your hopes up too much over this.
