USA --(Ammoland.com)- “Although San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi was a strong advocate of gun control while on the Board of Supervisors, he surrendered 3 handguns when police recently booked him on misdemeanor domestic violence charges,” KCBS reports.

“Mirkarimi apparently owned them while sponsoring legislation last summer to bolster San Francisco gun control laws against a lawsuit by the National Rifle Association.”

“Mirkarimi was elected sheriff in November after serving seven years as one of the city’s more liberal supervisors,” Fox News tells us.

Indeed, “As a longtime member of the progressive bloc on the Board of Supervisors, Mirkarimi was a vocal advocate of gun control,” The San Francisco Examiner informs us.

“But after being arrested on three misdemeanor charges including domestic violence battery, Mirkarimi was forced to turn over all his guns to authorities.”

“If Mirkarimi were convicted on the domestic violence charge, he would not be able to carry a gun as sheriff,” reporter Joshua Sabatini claims.

True, but it would entail more than that. If convicted, “thanks” to the infamous Lautenberg Amendment, he would be a prohibited person under federal law, forbidden not only to carry a gun, but to own or even touch one—forever.

  1. You can own guns and still support gun control. It isn’t an absolute. Gun control is about keeping guns out of the wrong hands, not all hands.

  3. BULL CRAP TASMAN!
“Gun control is about keeping guns out of the wrong hands, not all hands.”
Then explain why it is ALL gun control laws impact ONLY the law-abiding citizens while doing little to prevent guns from getting into the hands of criminals much less impacting violent crime?
Gun control makes as much sense as banning lighters to stop arson! Criminals will always find a way and the ONLY ones impacted will be those that actually obey the law!
MURDER is against the law yet people still murder each other… but I digress.
Also, if “Gun control is about keeping guns out of the wrong hands” is such, then why is so much gun control focused on cosmetic features like folding stocks, flash hiders, bayonet lugs and “scary-looking” firearms and how many rounds of ammo the magazines that feed them hold instead of the CRIMINAL USE of ALL firearms?
No… it’s about “keeping guns out of the wrong hands” right?
Pffffftttt!!! You are either some naive idiot taken in by a false philosophy based on emotion, fear and lies or you are one of those hypocrites who mean well but support liberty-robbing policies that make no logical sense and have been proven only to steal the rights and freedoms (Constitutionally protected, mind you) of the law-abiding while doing nothing but bolster the criminal element and the dependency on a totalitarian government in need of dependents to retain power!
PROVE ME WRONG HERE, I DARE YOU!

  5. And by the way, on the original article…
I hope Sheriff Mirkarimi is disarmed by the very policies he supported and becomes useless in his job other than some hypocritical bureaucrat that becomes as dependent on government force and protection as his disarmed constituencies!
Then, (I only wish this on the worst of hypocritical wastes of flesh breathing up the oxygen the rest of us need to live) I hope he gets attacked and put in a possition where his last thought might be either “Damn, wish I had the right to have a gun and defend myself right now” or better yet realize what “Better to have it and to NOT need it than to NEED it and not HAVE it”!
Suffer the consequences of your wrong and anti-liberty views Sheriff Mirkarimi!

  9. San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi is no better than the other thug, Chicago Police Chief Jerry McCarthy, another high ranking, anti-2nd Amendment thug handpicked by Rahm Emanuel. Both of them will be swept by the concealed carry reforms that are advancing across the nation. The next big goal is to make the remaining “may issue” states like California, New York, and New Jersey into “shall issue” states. Finally, we need to clean up those final pockets of resistance such as college campuses and other so-called “gun free zones” which are fast becoming targets for armed criminals who can operate with impunity against their defenseless victims.

  11. Questions apparently not asked nor answered: Did the sheriff own the guns and live in San Francisco prior to his election as sheriff? Did he have CCW permits for all three? Does he have a gun safe at home?

“The sky was black with chickens coming home to roost.”
