USA –-(Ammoland.com)- “Mississippi State officials reassure public campus is safe after fatal shooting,” DJournal.com reports.
“John Sanderson, 21, of Madison…a first-semester transfer, Sanderson was shot multiple times outside a dorm room,” the report tells us.
Additionally, we learn “‘a person of interest’ had been identified and that a gun was recovered on campus after the shooting.”
The first point to consider: official assurances that the campus is safe. Per campus policy, “the university prohibits…The possession by a student of any firearm on the campus of Mississippi State University.”
That policy hardly kept the unfortunate young Mr. Sanderson safe, and it hardly ensures that those who choose to disregard such things won’t do so again, with an official guarantee that violators alone will enjoy a one-sided armed advantage. And there’s a second point, one sadly made relevant due to the reactions by some to the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida. Again from the DJournal story:
Three black males were seen fleeing from the building, driving away in a blue Crown Victoria. School officials said the three were not thought to be current MSU students.
The men still were being sought on Sunday…
It’s good that we don’t see opportunists and haters showing up in Mississippi, jumping to conclusions before all the facts have been established, proclaiming guilt without weighing the evidence, but stirring up racial animosity and threatening violence anyway due solely to the skin color of the men in these reports.
Wouldn’t you agree that anyone who would do that is a racist loon, deserving of the contempt of all decent people?

If the person of interest is black and the victim white, The racists like Jackson and Sharpton don't have any black blood to dance in. Maybe this case will see true justice and not the media circus that surrounds the Martin/Zimmerman case.
