Who Needs The Second Amendment?

New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- The most shocking thing about the Second Amendment is that it is truly unnecessary!

The question every human must ask themselves is “Who owns my LIFE”?

The answer can only be one of two possibilities. Either *YOU* are the owner of your life or someone else is. If you declare that your life belongs to someone else, then they can do with you whatever they wish. You need not worry about the right to keep and bear arms. Your life is not yours to defend.

In essence the answer to this question is a choice between FREEDOM and SLAVERY.

After years of oppression at the hands of the British, our founders recognized this choice and they chose FREEDOM. Before we decide if we NEED it, let’s look at what the Second Amendment DOES say.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

To whom was this admonition directed? The entire point of drawing up the constitution was to codify what the government could and could NOT do. This Amendment was meant as a WARNING to those in the governing body that disarmament OF THE PEOPLE would not be tolerated. PERIOD!

Until the Supreme Court handed down its decisions in the recent Heller and McDonald cases, there was a lot of debate over whether the first part of the amendment was intended to mean that the right to keep and bear arms was limited to the militia. There are pages and pages of information contained in the records of those two decisions. Without going into detail about the meaning of that prefatory clause, suffice it to say that there is no longer any question about the intention of the main clause “…the right OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”.

In both decisions, the majority opinion of the Supreme Court was that the Second Amendment PROTECTS the INDIVIDUAL right to keep and bear arms.

Here is the shocking question: “Do we *NEED* the Second Amendment to tell us that we have the RIGHT to protect that which is most precious to us, our lives, and that of our family”?

In other words, if there were no Constitution or Second Amendment, would we still possess the right to defend our lives and the lives of our loved ones? I have found that most people will answer yes. The entire point of the “Bill of Rights”, including the Second Amendment, was to ensure that a tyrannical government could NEVER interfere with a person’s right to defend themselves, their family, their home, their property, their state, and their COUNTRY *EVEN* from the government itself.

No, we don’t need the Second Amendment to know what is right and natural, but the government does.

THANK YOU!!! Now if we could start teaching people that WE THE PEOPLE have the ability to STOP bad laws via jury nullification we may start real change! Please REFUSE to convict ANYONE on any crime that is unconstitutional! Not guilty on DRUG charges! Not guilty on GUN charged! Not guilty on TAX evasion! Quote by David Thoreau: Unjust laws exist: shall we be content to obey them, or shall we endeavor to amend them, and obey them until we have succeeded, or shall we transgress them at once? If a thousand [citizens] were not to pay their tax-bills this… Read more »
