Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- All Presidents are hostages to events. It is, however, the manner in which they respond that shapes their outcome.

By the afternoon of September 11, the Obama administration scrambled to disavow a statement to the assault on the U.S. embassy in Cairo that had been issued by the embassy.

The statement said, “The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims—as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.”

“Misguided individuals”?

“The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect views of the United States government” an unnamed administration official told Politico.

But the statement did reflect the Obama administration’s views as expressed repeatedly over the years. Indeed, in condemning the killing of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and his staff, issued on September 12, was repeated in President Obama’s statement.

“While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the senseless violence that took the lives of these public services.”

The attacks, deliberately timed to coincide with the eleventh anniversary of the worst attack on the U.S. homeland since Pearl Harbor on 9/11, the administration made no effort to connect them. It made no effort to explain to Americans that this nation is at war with Islam, a war made manifest in Afghanistan following 9/11, pursued against the dictator Saddam Hussein, and which the President himself has been personally carrying out with drone attacks on al Qaeda leaders in Yemen and in Pakistan; a war personified in the ten-year effort to find and kill Osama bin Laden.

It was a war declared by Iran when, in 1979, Islamist revolutionaries scaled the walls of the American embassy in Tehran and took our diplomats hostage for 444 days until releasing them the same day Ronald Reagan took the oath of office for his first term in office. He would later order an attack on Moammar Gaddafi, the dictator of Libya after he sponsored terrorist attacks carried out against American targets in Germany and the bombing of an airliner over Great Britain carrying Americans. Gaddafi sued for peace.

If Obama had announced that the proposed funding to Egypt would not be sent, nor similar support for the nascent Libyan government that replaced Gaddafi then, at the very least, a message would have been sent that we will not support governments that stand aside when such attacks occur.

Obama’s “diplomacy” with the Middle East has been a message of apology.

All this is reminiscent of former President Carter’s failed attempts to assert American power and outrage. For all the criticism of President Bush, after 9/11 he swiftly authorized the bombing of al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Obama has been trying to open lines of communication with the Taliban instead of steadfastly pursuing a policy of destroying them. In this regard, ignoring Pakistan’s support for them has been a failure of spectacular misjudgment.

Never forget that Osama bin Laden was found and killed in Pakistan where he had received sanctuary, living barely a mile from that nation’s equivalent of our West Point academy.

Contrast that with Republican candidate, Mitt Romney’s response to the Libyan killings. “I am outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt, and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It’s disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

This goes way beyond the politics of the current campaigns. It goes to the heart of the fact that America has been under attack since the killing of marines in Beirut in 1983 and by the attacks on our embassies there and in Africa, and the attack on the USS Cole in Yemen.

Islam is at war with America and the West. Iran has covertly been waging this war. And the Obama administration’s response has been to attack our only true ally in the Middle East, Israel, openly withdrawing from support for a nation that, along with ours, is threatened by Iran.

We must stop apologizing to our enemies and begin to punish them before they once again bring their war to our shores.

    1. If Muslims were upset with this film that is Anti-Islam they should of protested peacefully. But that didn’t happen.Fanatical Muslims killed people, burned and destroyed property and turned into a viscious mob.If a film is made about Jesus and depicts Christ in a bad way or is Anti-Christianity.I pray and I don’t go see the film.I don’t go out and kill people and burn and destroy property.Muslims should go home and let GOD handle things.GOD loves you.Its time to chill out Muslims and go home and be peaceful. As far as Obama goes by apologizing to our enemies first and not condemning the attacks first. This is pitiful on his part.We need to punish the people responsible for killing our Ambassador to Libya and the 3 members of his staff. Most of all this violence by Fanatical Muslims must stop now!!! That film does not justify this response.I know one thing if any crazed Fanatical Muslim tries to harm my family or me.He is going out in a body bag with a tag on it.Too Gruesome to view.Just like Osama Bin Laden.Tagged bagged and buried at sea to be shark and fish food.Ding Dong the bitch is dead.

I agree with everything in this article. Now, how do we American citizens form committees to DO SOMETHING about it rather than just whining on message boards.

“Never think a few people cannot change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”-Margaret Meade

History shows that the only thing that brings about LASTING social change for the better is persistent peaceful demonstrations.”

Well boys and girls…..I’ me ready to give up a few days of work for my country, are you?

      JJM,

Really? When someone makes fun of Jesus or depicts him in a negative light, you dont go to a mall and spray women and children with gun fire? You dont go to an embassy and try to blow it up? What kind of man are you? Jeez, I am the same way. So there are 2 of us nuts walking around that don’t arbitrarily murder people. Thats nice. I grew up in a neighborhood in Brooklyn that was 99% Christians and Jews and we who were friends and knew each other would rag on each other with jokes about bagels and cheapness and then retaliation would start about priests fondling little boys and nuns getting none, and all the things IMHO people who get along, truly from the heart will do. Making fun of anothers beliefs is ok “if” its done with friendship and no malice. I know you wont believe this , but none of us even killed anyone for insulting Jesus, Moses or a Hot Dog if thats who you pray to. History proves, sadly thru the crusades and dark ages, that when religious laughter and joking is not permitted and considered blasphemy, it completely puts a halt on any growth in that civilization on all sides. No new technology, no new land exploration or increase in quality of life and learning how to love others ever spreads when people take anything too serious. Look at our own people today who still…..40 years later are still talking about in-equality in America and how they didnt get their fair share! We can no longer make racist jokes or use the N word even in jest. What a country we turned into. We went from total intolerance and having the KKK IN 1962 TO a country where there is still total intolerance….to criticism or jokes, only instead of the KKK we have liberals who want to give everyone a piece of the pie no matter what they did.We went from being mean to being over tolerant and cowardly. And of course lets treat our murderers and incarcerated citizens especially well, and pick up the tab to the tune of over 35k per year per prisoner. History shows that the less you spend on prisoners, the lower the recidivism rate! What happened to bread and water diets instead of steak, veggies and hot mashed potatoes.I don’t eat that well. Are we nuts or what?????
