NEWTOWN, Conn --(Ammoland.com)- Thank you everyone who joined the NSSF PAC at the Election Night Reception in Orlando, Fla.
If you were unable to attend the reception, we look forward to seeing you at the next PAC reception on Monday, Jan. 14 at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
Invitations to this special event will be sent shortly. We hope you will join us.
Well the election is over, and today America wakes up to find that nothing much has changed in Washington, D.C. Barack Obama has been re-elected President, the Democrats still control the Senate (53-45) and the Republicans still control the House (233-196). Fortunately, a bipartisan, pro-gun majority exists in both the Senate and the House.
However, now is not the time for the firearms and ammunition industry to fall asleep at the wheel.
We need to be prepared to battle whatever anti-gun agenda the Obama Administration may try to pass through Congress and the “under the radar” regulatory threat we are sure to encounter, like ATF defining alternative ammunition as armor piercing ammunition, banning the import of semi-automatic rifles based on magazine capacity, and conducting more frequent and aggressive inspections. Just ask anyone who was in the industry during the Clinton Administration’s second term how quickly things change for the worse and how it will impact our industry.
While this election did not produce the ideal outcome we might have hoped for, we did see a number of our pro-industry and pro-Second Amendment candidates win their races. All of our House candidates won — 100 percent. Of the 14 candidates the NSSF PAC supported directly (including Gov. Mitt Romney), eight of them won their respective races — a more than 60 percent overall success rate.

In addition, the NSSF PAC contributed to Republican House leadership committees, like The Freedom Project, and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). These committees in turn supported House GOP candidates who understand and will fight for our issues.
The NSSF PAC has experienced tremendous growth. Compared to last year, total contributions to the PAC are up more than 60 percent, which has allowed it to give greater support to more pro-industry candidates. More than 80 NSSF members and staff contributed over $60,000 to the NSSF PAC in 2012 — both records for our PAC — to help ensure elected officials respect and support America’s firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry and our firearms freedoms. We surpassed our goal set after Rep. Paul Ryan was picked as Romney’s vice presidential candidate to raise $30,000 in 30 days!
Since its establishment in April 2010, the PAC has raised over $110,000 and has contributed to more than 25 pro-industry candidates. Coincidentally, it was on Election Day that the PAC broke the $100,000 contribution mark!
The NSSF PAC specially recognizes and thanks all of its contributors for their leadership and commitment to the future of our industry! See the list.
