Fundraising policy
It is the current policy of WWP to charge fundraisers a $100 registration fee and they do not accept donations that are “religious in nature”. When WWP refused a donation from Liberty Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL the charity issued this statement to the church leaders: “We must decline the opportunity to be the beneficiary of your event due to our fundraising event criteria, which doesn’t allow community events to be religious in nature,” read an email from the WWP community events team. “Please note your registration fee will be refunded within the next 7-10 business days.” WWP said as a nonpartisan organization they cannot accept event fundraising from companies “in which the product or message is religious in nature.”

My wife and I donated annually to WWP. I’ve been following this since it first broke and after listening to Tom’s interview with Steve the decision was solidified. We will no longer be donating to WWP. We will support our veterans through other channels.

I just received an envelope and a stamp from WWP. I am returning it to WWP expressing my displeasure at their anti-gun stance. Most of these non-profits just enrich their officers. I would like to know what the principals earn. I agree with Bill Baker – these Warriors were wounded protecting our rights.

was on the bus 2/28/13 to protest the NY SAFE ACT in Albany and learned of this.We’ll finish out the year($19 a month)to WWP but have informed them unless an open apology is issued we will no longer support them.

There are other programs that exist to help vets, and while I did respect this organization previously, and could probably find a hundred heart felt videos to make me cry and say how much love they have, if they are going to make a half assed stand against the very rights we joined to support, they can shove it. Just like Obama shielding his gun control campaign with the kids and there letters, don’t accept groups that go half way. That’s one of the biggest problems in America lately, is no one will stand up for their beliefs and stick to their guns. (pun intended) I have said for a long time that I can respect the other side for standing up for what they believe in even if I end up on the losing end of things when SHTF.
You don’t like my take on WWP, change them, not me. Tell them they should support the rights all the warriors fought to uphold.

On top of it all, who in the hell in WWP is leading this outrage. Do any of the Vets remember their oath of office to the constitution? I might have been discharged but I NEVER disavowed my oath to protect the constitution and my country! I am the fourth generation veteran. I served in Vietnam, my dad loaded the bombs for Berlin in WWII, my grandfather was with the Rainbow Division in WWI and died as a result of his service from mustard gas poisoning, and my great-grandfather was a blue-bellied Yankee from the Civil War. Half Navy/half Marine (Seabee)Semper Fi – Always Faithful – Always Loyal! Although I am not a true Marine, I am close to it and I do understand ALWAYS FAITHFUL! If you are taking an anti-gun stand because of suicide, you should know that there are many other ways to commit suicide. If you think disarming the citizens of the United States will prevent suicide, you obviously do not have a solid grasp of what the wounded warriors really need. Disarming the citizens of the United States will only invite our enemies to take away the freedoms that the veterans fought for and were wounded in defense of. You will dishonor every soldier who gave up his life or was wounded in defending our freedom and constitution.

I took an active role in the boycott of the Eastern Sports show due to their hypocrisy on this. I previously supported WWP, but now think what happened to the sports show needs to happen to them. Our worst enemies when it comes to gun control aren’t the ones publicly vocalizing the anti-gun position, its the traitors and hypocrites who pretend to support ours while stabbing us in the back.

WWP will not take funds from religious organizations either. Looking at Donating to the American Legion or VFW as they provide opportunities for youth to participate in competitive shooting events.

I am a Vietnam Vet, although I am not a wounded warrior. It was through the Grace of God that I came through 19 months of hard combat in the Marines unscathed. However my son was not so fortunate, losing part of his leg in Afghanistan to an IED blast. I was proud of his belonging to the WWP, as was he. But now I feel as if both of our faces was slapped. I have been called names and been spit at, but I am man enough to take care of myself. But now they bring dishonor to my son, my only child, bringing their political cowardice against my son. This I will not accept or allow!

I was already disappointed in the amount of money WWP spends on fundraising and staff (Professional fundraisers). Their take on Vietnam Vets and turning away money from co-branding just help crystallize the decision in my mind. OscarMike foundation looks pretty good as well as local groups that already gave up on WWP but not on wounded soldiers. Other suggestions? The suicide issue exists in all phases of life, but guns aren’t the cause or the only means. Providing opportunities to have fun is the best IMO.

I do not understand the sensationalism being voiced here. WWP is simply refusing to get in the middle of a issue that is a no win for any orginization. Supporting the second amendment carries no requirement that you step in and take sides between the extremists on both sides of the issues. I support the second amendment. But I will not lend my time to either side because of the extremists such as those spinning this issue for their own pr.

Many groups that you join will not tell you that they donate part of your money to anti-gun agenda. Some of them will say they don’t if you give them the slightest hint that you are pro-gun. The only way you can find out of sure is to pretend you are anit-gun.The ends justifies the means.

I don’t think anyone who heard about this here, will be sending WWP any more donations. Also, they don’t tell you but AARP donates part of anything they get in revenue, to anti-gun groups. I sent them a letter and told them I refused to join a group that did things like that behind people’s back and did not tell them. They said that was their policy and they were not going to change it.

WWP is a worthy organization helping people who stood up, bled, and sometimes died for our ability to have a second amendment, and fourth, and thirteenth, etc.

Other organizations do the same thing who don’t marginalize a way of life, and are more efficient with their use of donated funds.

As such, I will not bash, but nor will I give money to WWP.

Please remember, that if you are bashing WWP many veterans would take that as bashing veterans. They shouldn’t, but they will, and our veterans deserve our respect at all times.

The entire point seems to have been overlooked by several of the comments I’ve read. The shooting sports have provided funds, and donations to the WWP. Isn’t it hypocritical of them to deny the use of their logo, or prohibit their support of one of the major supporters of their program??

I’ve watched numerous hunting programs on television that sponsored wounded warriors on free hunting trips, as well as providing them with free firearms, knives, clothing, etc., yet for all of this generosity and the financial support received the WWP doesn’t want to be associated with these companies and organizations?????????? If the shooting sports are good enough for the WWP to accept their money and donations, then the WWP should be willing to be a partner and promote the companies and organizations in return.

One simple question: How is a wounded vet (or any disabled person) going to be able to protect themselves and their family without a firearm? I suppose WWP would like the leave them as easy targets for home invasion criminals who coincidentally like to steal pain medications commonly prescribed to wounded vets. I am not a liberal nor am I a conservative, but so middle of the road I tend to piss off my liberal friends more than my conservative friends. I own several firearms, have extensive training and work with law enforement often. Obama is no saint and I hold his feet to the fire constantly, as well I also believe that republicans love to talk about the 2nd amendment but completely ignore threats to every other amendment that generally comes from the right more often than not. I am well educated and vote the issues not the party line. I actually think and research issues before I get all uppity about them or swallow talking points. The point is the hypocrisy on both sides is reprehensible.

Now that being said: SHAME on Ammoland. Just because this group, who helps more warriors than anyone else, does not want to be dragged into he controversy surrounding firearms, or alcohol, or anything else that might turn people like myself away along with my contributions because of extreme or vehement view points, stances or alignments, you label them as anti gun?

Seems to me you simply wanted them to come to your interview because you were potentially hoping to capitalize on their success and audience to expand your customer base and your own financial gain. Then because they simply denied your request you got your panties in an uproar completely took their reasoning out of context in an attempt to smear their name with the boogieman of the gun grabbers all based on your knee jerk emotionally sensitive ego.

If you cared at all about wounded vets, you would not switch your stance 180 degrees simply because they don’t want to be associated with your right wing extremist view points that are so evident in your mishandling of this situation. Cant say I blame them, It seems to me that it is Ammoland that has ulterior motives rather than the wounded warriors project. Again. Shame on you for this petty crap. WEAK.

I support the 2nd amendment and am a gun owner but seriously this group helps wounded vets and you guys aren’t going to support them because they don’t like the gun industry? That implies that before you only gave money to them because you assumed they were pro-gun not because you were pro-helping the vets who need it. Y’all are just being petty. Wait let’s all think about this logically for a second of course they don’t support the gun industry they help WOUNDED soldiers shockingly they also don’t support the explosives industry either. You think maybe they do shoots and hunts is because they know the people they help like to do those things kinda like how a vegetarian can throw a BBQ even though they don’t like meat. I hope the next time you see a ex-soldier with a traumatic brain injury or missing his leg you tell him how the group that helped him out is “disgusting” because they don’t want to have their name directly on weapons and don’t want to go on a gun talk show I hope you feel real good about it afterward too.
