I was denied a firearm permit due to the bias of the local chief of police. Yes I had an arrest in the past, no trial, case dismissed and the matter expunged. When I appealed the judge said you were dismissed…that doesn’t mean you weren’t guilty. Guilty until proven innocent in NJ. I was denied over the catch all “Danger to the health, safety and welfare” By all court records and documents. I have a clean record but being the incident happened in this town (where I was a member of the police department)The police in this town have shown prejudice and bias. Unless I spend thousands of dollars in legal fees I have no chance of winning. I travel a lot and the wife is left alone. I would feel better if she had something to protect herself and out home. But the police department (nightly has 5 cars for 40 square miles) says no.
