Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- Congressman Mike Thompson is hosting a gun violence prevention public forum in Santa Rosa this Thursday, January 10th 2013.

A wide-range of issues will be discussed at this public forum.  Congressman Thompson is one of twelve Democratic Congressman on a task force that is working to make legislative recommendations on gun control.

It is imperative that law-abiding gun owners are represented at this public forum.

It is expected that many of these issues will be emotional and sensitive and we ask that you please remain considerate and respectful of others.  However, it is important that gun owners are represented at this forum.

The panel will also consist of Sheriff Steve Freitas, District Attorney Jill Ravitch, Superintendent of Schools Steve Herrington and county mental director Mike Kennedy.

I attempted to attend this Forum. By arriving 20 minutes early I was not able to enter the building as there was not room in the meeting room, nor in the hallways outside the meeting room, nor in the area near the outside doors, because of the masses of people trying to attend. I was very disappointed by the shortsighted choice of the small meeting room chosen for such a divisive subject. It seems to me that this was planned to appear to want public input while making sure that it was very limited.
