@Larry as a so called lawyer you of all people, should be used to using facts, your number of 40% is made up, where did you get that number, no one keeps track of that kind of info, saying that criminal and crazy people are buying guns is a bold face lie, what you fail to say is that all the people at these gun shows and no one is doing anything wrong or breaking the law. I would call your state bar and tell them they made a mistake calling you a lawyer.

40% of all guns are sold at gun shows – many without any record, which makes solving murders difficult for law enforcement. Many sales at gun shows don’t involve a background check, which is the technical definition of the gun show loophole. The loophole allows criminals and crazy people to have guns.

There IS one huge gun show loophole that needs closing , that is the one that insures there are always more FEDS in the place than regular customers .

Kent; You must understand that to the banners, every step is just one more step. They have made no secret that the goal is a UK level gun ban.

I’ve learned from my anti gun friends,(yes, at least 60% of my friends are) are afraid. Pure and simple fear. They don’t have guns. They don’t understand them. And they fear those that do. They believe that you, Kent, and I, are just one tantrum or drunk away from Aurora or Sandy Hook. And, and this is the big AND, they are just as afraid of a 5-6 shot revolver as a 17 shot Glock. Just as afraid of a double barrel shotgun as an AR-15. One friend said in all seriousness he wants to ban all but single shot rifles and shotguns. Another all handguns period. These two are not raging liberals. They are both politicly conservative. There is NO middle ground because the goal is not in the middle. It’s a total ban!

Everyone, even you, knows that the expression “close the gun show loophole” means prohibit private sales without background checks. It’s tedious as well as dishonest to pretend otherwise.

Let me begin by saying I am a Life Member of the NRA. Have been for 25+ years. Personally I have no problem with background checks. Of course there is currently no way for me to do that. But the truth I would feel more comfortable selling a gun to a stranger if I could do a background check.
