Southport, CT --(Ammoland.com)- Contact Your Legislators Now!

At Ruger, our motto is “Arms Makers for Responsible Citizens.” It is not just a slogan; it is genuine recognition that millions of law-abiding citizens use our firearms safely and responsibly every day.

We are mechanics, doctors, teachers, police officers, firemen, nurses, factory workers, and every other occupation you can name. We are a vast and too-often silent majority … and our rights are under attack.

Make Your Voice Heard Too!

Given the forces assembling against us, merely relying upon lobbying efforts is insufficient. Law-abiding firearms owners must stand up and be heard. This affects all of us, so we cannot stand idly by and rely upon others to fight on our behalf. Too much is at stake.

Visit our Protect Your Rights web page to learn more about how you can take action and be heard today!

Step one: On that page, you can tell your legislators you care about gun rights, either with the Take Action Now! link, ( http://tiny.cc/roktqw ) which allows you to send a prepared email letter quickly and easily. Or the Find Your Representatives link, ( http://tiny.cc/6nktqw ) which has detailed contact information for each of your legislators so, if you prefer, you can call them or write them a more personal letter.

Step two: Get all your friends, family and co workers to help support our rights; ask them to click on the link and send letters too. Forward this article link to your friends and post it on social media,  encourage them to take action too.

More: Many elected officials have been looking for an opportunity to curtail our gun rights and think they can win now if they move quickly while emotions are high. In Washington D.C. and in state legislatures across the country, anti-gun forces are gathering and conspiring in an effort to pass bad legislation that goes beyond anything we have ever seen.

At least one legislature is discussing making public the identity of all pistol permit holders, treatment typically reserved for convicted sex offenders.

Reality seems to be lost on these folks. Cities like Washington D.C. and Chicago, with some of the strictest gun laws on the books, are hotbeds of violent crime. Nationally, violent crime involving firearms has declined since the expiration of the Federal “assault weapons ban,” while lawful ownership of firearms has increased.

More lawful gun ownership, less crime.

To help your voice be heard, use this special service on our website now.

Please act now, before it’s too late.

We need the General Public to see and hear about the thousands of incidents where Legally Carrying Law Abiding Citizens have saved lives! In some cases many lives to include saving the life of a Law Enforcement Officer, yet the Mainstream Media never talks about them ever. This will help our cause better than anything else! I will look to move out of NY if our Politicians destroy the Second Amendment and so will Remington in Illion, NY! NY will lose over a 1,000 jobs and a lot of revenue. NY has already lost a lot of Businesses and we can’t afford to lose anymore. I have written every Senator, Assemblyman, Governor, President and anyone else in Politics. In comes down to People allowing Emotions to Cloud their better judgement and common sense. They then cave to the pressure! Cowards period end of story!

    3. Too many gun owners hav a “their not talking about me” attitude. I’ve known (and you probably do too)trap shooters who have no consideration for owners of ARs or Glocks, just to give an example. I also know many people, very conservative politicly who are all for strict gun bans. I don’t see any unity.
I just gave to the NRA.

    4. I’m not signing a petition like that, as I do not want further back ground checks or for them to focus on further enforcement of existing laws. We already have too many and they do not work. I am against forcing a back ground check on every firearm transfer. That is a ridiculous measure and i am upset at Ruger for taking such a limp wrist stance!

    5. Timur, and others of the same point view:

I read the Ruger petition, and it does not advocate new or more intrusive background checks to me. What they appear to be advocating for is for states to share NICs-relevant data to the federal authorities, not new checks. They aren’t asking for a registry either…current laws require destruction of background check records within a day or so and nobody in industry would support a change to enable this data to be a registry of sorts.

The context on this is that right now there’s a patchwork of background checks system among states and they don’t talk to national or other check systems consistently if at all. And this undermines the quality of background checks in general, and ultimately allows irresponsible people to slip through.

I think everybody would agree that background checks should contain relevant data so gun dealers can sell with greater peace of mind. I think also people would agree this would also help build trust in society that persons already prohibited from buying guns actually show up in the system. This way, ultimately, industry and customers alike can have confidence existing processes and regulations can work better and protect us better against irresponsible people acting dangerously.

By not advocating for better visibility on official disqualifying information, we would all be undermining the defense of our gun rights/civil rights.

So, please reconsider. Or,by all means, please rewrite something in your own words if you so desire or do something completely original separately. The key point is, for all of us in the arms-rights-are-civil-rights fight, to sound off and to persistently and vociferously drown out the rising chorus of haters and social bigots, and those in power who just want to disarm people for selfish reasons.

I may not be a gun owner but I support the second amendment. I also support that gun owners properly educate their children that guns are safe and should properly keep them out of childrens reach.
