Washington, DC –-(Ammoland.com)- As most of you know, the NICS Section developed a NICS FFL Web site about a year ago www.fbi.gov/nics-ffl .

This web site gives the FFL immediate access to all types of information pertaining to the NICS and the NICS background checks.

There you will find the “NICS Process In Motion” Video. This video goes through the entire NICS Process and explains to the FFL why someone would get delayed, proceeded or denied. It also explains the additional products and/or processes we have for the FFL and their customer.

I am excited to announce we have a similar video “NICS Process in Motion-for the Customer” located on the NICS home page at www.fbi.gov/nics. This web site can be provided to your customers who want to know what the NICS Process is and what causes someone to be delayed, proceeded and/or denied. The video also goes through the NICS Process but does it at a customer’s point of view.

When your customers have questions about the NICS Process or need to know whey they were delayed or denied, try providing them the main NICs web site instead of advising them to call the NICS Section. The web site not only has informational videos but will also allow them to begin their appeal process if they were denied or Voluntary Appeal File (VAF) process if they have an extended delay. Please be advised, per federal law, the NICS Section is not permitted to advise callers why they are delayed or denied over the phone.

Providing the NICS Web site, your customer can view the NICS Process and/or the VAF Process Video, review the NICS Federal Prohibitors, and general NICS Information. Your customer can also begin their Appeal Process (Denied Customers Only) or the VAF Process (Extended Delayed customers). This is the NICS Sections way of providing your customer needed information without them calling the NICS Section. This in turn will allow us to spend more time processing your incoming NICS Background Checks. Win Win!!

I have attached a document showing a screen shot of the web site. The red arrows show the videos available to the FFL and general public. The green oval circles the link that will also take you to the FFL web site too.

Have a GREAT Day!

Also, hope to see you at the 2013 SHOT Show next week. Stop by and see us at booth #2809!
