Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show Says No to Black Rifles

NEWTOWN, Conn --(Ammoland.com)- We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.

NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).

Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

About NSSF
The National Shooting Sports Foundation is the trade association for the firearms industry. Its mission is to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports. Formed in 1961, NSSF has a membership of more than 6,000 manufacturers, distributors, firearms retailers, shooting ranges, sportsmen’s organizations and publishers. Thanks to everyone who stood up for our rights. What a bunch of hypocrits to ban a perfectly legal and popular gun from a gun show of all things. They needed shut down and taught a lesson. Hopefully NSSF will use a different vendor in any new shows.

I purchased a ticket for the Sportsman show on-line.
Will I and how do I get a refund?

    3. Reed is a UK based company. Is there no American company that can be given the contracts for these shows? I would normally attend the Eastern expo, but not this year.

    4. Big shoutout to the grassroots campaign that started the facebook page “Boycott the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show” they received over 17,000 likes in under one week. Second Amendment supporters joined in to voice their dissatisfaction of the ban Reed had put on certain firearms, magazines and their literature from the show. Modern Sporting Rifles are legal in Pa. People are fed up with elected officials and other groups who want to punish law abiding legal gun owners for the actions of criminals and the mentally ill. We are uniting and taking a stand to uphold the Constitution. Over 300 vendors pulled out plus most of the sponsors and celebrities.

I was planning on attending, but since Reed is acting in a sub-par professional manner by banning weapons, I won’t attend.

    6. Regardless of the outcome regarding the Eastern sports event NONE of the exhibitors, celebs or supporters should go back into that event. Attempted firearm bans should be treated like attempted murder, There must be a penalty for attempting that action in the first place just as there is with attempted murder. It is great the industry and so many others came together like they did in this example.

And the NSSF (SHOT Show people) are not to be blamed in any way for this mess and they are not affiliated in any way with the Eastern Sports Show. NSSF simply contracts with Reed (show people) do do their SHOT Show–and that could now be in jepordy as NSSF has been in intense discussions with the Reed people not to be stupid in this Eastern Sports example–to no avail.
