What we need is more politicians with COMMON SENSE!! It doesn’t take a freaking Einstein to understand that tightening up gun control laws only hurts the law biding citizens! A criminal who is going to go kill or do something stupid with a firearm isn’t going to purchase it legally anyway!! There is nothing that anyone can do to stop a mentally challenged individual from hurting himself or anything in general, Insurance companies should be held at fault for not helping and worrying about more money when premiums are at an all time high. Remember that this country was founded by real men with real firearms, stand up AMERICA for whats right, and that’s not by taking firearms away from law biding citizens!!

We can refusde (civil disobedience) to register or give up our guns but, one thing we can’t combat is government prohibition on new manufacture of guns or repair parts. We (or our children/grandchildren) will be the victims of attrition when the old guns wear out. And, at some point, the government (probably during Obama’s 13th term as President) will take over all personal freedoms and america will be a full Socialist state.

@ Danny: Yep, the “rider” has always been an enemy of both common sense and legitimate concern for the welfare of our nation. I’ve felt since I was young that a bill deal with only one issue or a line item veto used. Personally I’m good with single issue bills, the line item veto has drawbacks. If a politician believes his/her bill is in the best interests of the people then the issue should stand alone and be debated.

My concern are the “riders” politicians like to throw into a bill. They’ll write up a bill that has good things going to needy people and somewhere in the mix will be some “rider” that will restrict something or other on our gun rights. Not that this president would use it, but there is no line item veto power to stop those sorts of things. Alot of these politicians are like Peacocks, they’re bombastic and strut around saying “look what I’ve proposed” and then they’ll sneak in something down the road.

Most of these BS bills will go nowhere. But there is a tactic we must be aware of that these gun grabbing morons may try. They will deliberately introduce some of this insanity, way over the top BS as a giveaway, knowing it will go nowhere. So, now they introduce a bill that seems much more “reasonable”, but with their true goals imbedded in it’s guts, with a lovely title that sounds sooo nice and kind. THAT’S the one they’ll stab you with!

agree with above poster. the entire “2nd Amendment” question is in itself, completely bogus. Old Thomas Jefferson himself, said somewhere, that the amendment was to prevent violence of the government against the citizens.

I’ve understood this since 7th grade in grammar school

then again, I had a former Marine history teacher (male) who had us go thru the ENTIRE Constitution while in 8th grade.

the amendments were covered by an AIr Force veteran (Korea jet pilot) Freshman year in High School.

then again, I enlisted into the Marines before I got drafted. with my mother’s signature of course. anther signature for over seas duty in the Big Puddle, and that’s all she wrote.

I will NOT give government forces any firearm weapons. period.
