This one’s such a no-brainer, if the hunting community can’t get behind it, makes me wonder if we’re lead-poisoned and can’t think.

I’m confused by the article and what it does not say. I thought blood tests of hunters revealed they had LOWER levels of lead than the general population. That says a lot to me.

Elemental lead is not poisonous. Compare it to iron- a person can be poisoned from taking too many iron-enriched vitamins but your drinking water can be full of elemental iron and all it does is make your clothes dingy and stain your sink.

Lead is a natural element, as long as children don’t eat it they are at no risk. The 14,000 tons of lead shot each year they refer to is mostly shot into backstops at shooting ranges and recycled. Lead is protected under the 2nd Amendment, it is and always will be used for ammunition. Copper is much more expensive and harder than lead ammunition. The only thing I can agree with is lead in gasoline that was put into the air by car and truck exhaust fumes everywhere.

Okay smarta– , what will this do to reloaders who recycle tons of lead just reloading ammunition , what are we supposed use , we as individuals can’t afford to make these fancy alloys , and buying them would negate the savings of reloading .

While I don’t think governmental action is needed, I agree that lead is highly toxic to humans and animals. Exercise wise decisions and good stewardship. in particular, make sure that the children in your life are protected from lead exposure.

For another take on this issue the NSSF has produced a fact sheet on the supposed health and environmental risks associated with lead ammo. Suffice it to say that the scientific evidence (and i use that word loosely) used to justify baning lead-based ammunition is spotty at best. Just learning how poorly a study was conducted in North Dakota is quite helpful.

In closing I aplaud ammoland for running editorials, even ones such as this, that sometimes go against the grain because it encourages the reader to seek out the truth.

Shame on AmmoLand for giving CBD any voice, as polite and reasonable as is the argument presented by Mr Snape, we know that the CBD is an anti hunting organization who’s end goal is to ban all hunting.

It has been shown again and again that all their data is based on junk science produced by people who’s goal is to manufacture fake data to forward there agenda.

Anytime you see the words “common sense” and “reasonable compromise” you know right away this an organization that cant speak the truth about their real agenda.

You can feel the detest for the NSSF and NRA coming from this individual even though he is doing his damnedest to hold back the rehtoric.

Shame on you AmmoLand for letting this charlatan into our ranks.

Where do you think the lead comes from? It’s not man-made or come from space. It’s already in the land, it comes from the land, and all we’re doing is returning it to the land whenever we use it as ammunition. You have noble ideas but your thinking is flawed.
