LITTLE ROCK, AR --(Ammoland.com)- The popular Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program will hold its regional tournaments this weekend.

The number of competitors is up over 30 percent from the previous year, with 2,710 archers scheduled to compete at six regional sites.

The tournaments will take place at Clarksville High School, Bergman High School in Harrison, Eagle Mountain Magnet in Batesville, Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock, Monticello Schools and Glen Rose Schools in Malvern.

Curtis Gray, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s ANASP Coordinator, said the number of competitors have grown considerably.

“We have 600 more students signed up for the tournaments than any previous competition we’ve held,” Gray said.

Winners from each regional will then go on to compete in the state tournament March 15-16 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

The Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program, part of the National Archery in the Schools Program, targets students as young as fourth grade and as old as high school seniors. They learn archery skills, as well as an outdoor hobby they may enjoy for the rest of their lives.
