New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)- ‘Best-laid plans of mice and men oft go astray’ is a phrase that is extremely poignant for the Keefer brothers on the upcoming episode of Dropped: Project Yukon which airs exclusively on Sportsman Channel.
The journey is full of promise as the brothers spot a large grizzly and stone sheep in the snow capped mountains. The only overriding obstacles remain are the elements of the Yukon. Audiences will not want to miss the close encounters with these big game animals on Dropped: Project Yukon on Tuesday, February 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Dropped: Project Yukon is a Sportsman Channel original series produced in conjunction with Rusted Rooster Media.
After spotting a grizzly, the brothers are full of energy and decide to engage in a long and aggressive stalk. Chris decides early on that he wants to take the bear with a bow or muzzleloader – the third option is his rifle. The brothers get to within 300 yards of the bear before the wind begins swirling and thus putting a ‘monkey wrench’ into their stalk. Frustrated, but not deterred, the men shift their focus to a different meal – grayling. A nearby river provides a different diet other than sheep meat. The fresh fish lifts the spirits as the men push forward.
The journey’s next step is a two-hour ride to ‘Church Camp’. There are high expectations for this camp, but the forces of nature have other ideas. Heavy snowfall and windy conditions put the team in a precarious position as the days are winding down and the existing food is running low.
“We were fortunate to spot a good size sheep, but the snow was coming down so fast, it was hard to hunt,” said Chris Keefer, Co-Host of Dropped: Project Yukon. “It’s frustrating when we have a plan and the elements interfere and sidetrack the team. This is the Yukon and it can’t be controlled.”
