Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- The Air Force has confirmed that on the night of Obama’s State of the Union address (SOTU), U.S. fighter jets had to be scrambled and sent up in response to two Russian bombers circling the U.S. territory of Guam.

“Two Russian nuclear-armed bombers circled the western Pacific island of Guam this week in the latest sign of Moscow’s growing strategic assertiveness toward the United States.”

“Every day brings new evidence that Obama’s ideological obsession with dismantling our nuclear deterrent is dangerous,”  “Our national security is in danger of slipping off the national agenda even as the threats grow.”

The fighter jets intercepted Russian Tu-95s bombers, which then departed to the north.

No further action was taken, and the only other detail given was that the bombers were likely “equipped with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles.”

Approximately 200 U.S. Marines were training on Guam at the time.

The island’s military base is key to Obama’s “new pivot to Asia” policy. Reports indicate this initiative has literally put Guam in the cross hairs of China and North Korea.

The Russian bombers were met by U.S. F-15s shortly before Obama’s SOTU began.

    1. While the Bears can carry certain nuclear or anti-shipping weapons they have been playing a cat and mouse game with the United States since Johnson was Pres. by simply flying into our fleet airspace to to test military radars and reactions. This guy writes they were nuke armed–that would be jive.

    2. You guys really need to present “news stories” in a more professional way. Less sensational.

In the above story, you put in a link that this intercept was confirmed. But then you immediately put in two “quotes” about how this represents a growing threat etc. But you don’t source those quotes at all. You can’t put in a link to an official source and follow that with quotes if those quotes don’t come from that source!!

    3. If they send planes over our territory, shoot them down. They have done the same to ours. Remember Francis Gary Powers?

    4. I’m sure they are testing that black african born muslim stinking up the “white house”HBH

    5. While we are worring about gun control, watch out,we may have a real Red Dawn.

Do you really think those bomber would make it into a fly space? Our technology is at least 10 years ahead of Russia. After the fall of the Wall in Berlin and the dismantling of the USSR, there whole military is in a state of unsurety. Our military on it’s worst day is better with it’s ability to stop a treat from Russia.
