Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- While Missouri Democrats push gun bans that would give law-abiding citizens 90 days to turn in their AR-15s and certain semi-automatic pistols and shotguns, MO Republican Reps. Doug Funderburk, Timothy Jones, and others, are pushing a “Second Amendment Preservation Act,” the public hearing for which is today, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. CST.
The house bill is HB 436; the senate bill is SB 325.
The Second Amendment Preservation Act follows examples set in Kentucky and Virginia resolutions. These resolutions on states’ powers of nullification were written by Thomas Jefferson, author of Declaration of Independence, and James Madison, author of the U.S. Constitution.
The Second Amendment Preservation Act “nullifies all federal gun control measures, leaving the regulation of weapons within Missouri’s borders to Missourians.”
The public hearing will be in front of the Missouri Senate General laws committee.
