Texas Gun Writer John Wootters, Passes

Texas --(Ammoland.com)- Revered gun writer John Wootters, author of Hunting Trophy Deer, died yesterday in Ingram.

He was 84.

The longtime hunting editor for Petersen’s Hunting, his credits also included Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, Field & Stream, American Sportsman, Gray’s Sporting Journal, American Rifleman, Shooting Times, Guns & Ammo and more.

Arrangements are pending.

Wootters spent the past several years writing for the West Kerr Current, which published this story several years ago on his life.

      The passing of a true gentleman and a very knowledgeable gun writer. He was one of the few that I could explicitly trust to really know what he was talking about. There are fewer like them today. It saddens me greatly…
