They chat with founder Julianna Crowder about the program, chapters, events, shopping and more!
Julianna tells us who she is and how she became involved in the shooting world. She explains the history of A Girl and A Gun, a girls’ night-out social hour. In 2 years the organization has grown to 28 chapters within 11 states and over 1000 members participating.
Julianna shares the goals of social interaction, coming alongside leaders to help strengthen their skills, and getting into competitions against other chapters along with competing in competitions that already exist. Julianna explains how events welcome new members and how existing members help other members get more comfortable.
The social organization stresses safety, connecting with other women, and competition in what might become their new favorite sport. The demographics are varied, a blend of all ages of women that get empowered just by showing up, asking questions and getting involved.
They discuss how A Girl and A Gun also encourage each chapter to find a way to give back to the community. Briefly discussed is the first annual National Conference, Breaking Barriers 2013. Membership options and benefits are then given, with one being available for women who don’t have chapter in their area yet. Email your own questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
