And I bet those guns were never returned. If anyone takes the time to look, they will find these firearms in the homes of the police that took them. Probably with the serial numbers filed off, too. I don't know if a right to self protection is as much God given as it is a right we have to forcefully take from government, as we did from England. Now all the British are unarmed and subjects of lost freedom there. So are the Canadians and Australians, and if our government gets their way, coming to America soon. This is what we fought the 1st revolution and don't be surprised if we have to fight another one, very soon, or end up like these other countries.

I live in Jefferson parish right next to Orleans parish in Louisiana. After Katrina my neighborhood was a total mess. We stayed and had to suffer many hardships for about 8 weeks . There was no power or utilies of any kind and no police or national guard to help because of the extensive water damage every where. We had prepared ahead of time for this event as we have been through many hurricanes in the past. Unlike Orleans parish , Jefferson parish officials did not conficate our firearms and violate our 2 nd amendment rights. And, they were needed because there were wide spread looting and assaults . There were home invasions and thefts of all kinds. The most dangerous problem was the roaming gangs that were terriozing those who stayed or returned to there homes when they could fine it passable . The only thing that kept my family and property safe was my AR-15 and my 30 round magazines and all my stored ammo. Without that firearm , we would have been overrun many times in the 8 weeks of day and night threats that became worse after the gangs had better access to property's as the water receded . To this very day, the lawsuits are still being settled with Orleans Parrish for the infringement and confiscation of the firearms from family members killed by looters and thugs after their very means of personal protection was stripped away by law enforcement. I hand to confront these thugs daily , and again , thank god for this rifel and it's capacity to Hold many rounds of ammo because it was needed . You don't know what it is like to be in this situation until you have to face it. Owning the forearm of my choise is my god given right, not the granted privlige of some government official. The right of self defense is absolute and not granted by government. Ther will be ,i am certain , many more storms to deal with and people will not change their ways during these tradgies. They will certainly take advantage of the unprotected population if the opertunity is there. Shame on you if you do not protect your family ,property,or yourself with this right you were born with.
