Manasquan, NJ --(Ammoland.com)- Less the 10 minutes ago the horribly flawed and ineffective for its stated intent Manchin-Toomey Compromise Amendment on Universal Background Checks went down to defeat by a vote of 54 to 46.

Thats more then a “few votes” short that has been touted since debate began yesterday over what was needed to achieve cloture.

The amount of terrible language, contradictions, penalties for misuse of records that would have had to been pursued and enforced by Attorney General Eric “Fast and Furious” Holder, in short, the whole thing should never have even gotten as far as it did today, it was that flawed and ineffective.

For those that didn’t watch the live coverage on CSPAN, I highly recommend doing so, although I don’t know if you will laugh at the absurdity, shake your head at the stupidity of our elected officials or shake your fist in anger at the outright lies told with straight faces and phony emotion by those who supported it.

More to follow…

Agreed, however I was not aware that the 2nd Amendment was up for debate, I thought that was settled 200 years ago.

Man, osamabama looked a little perturbed didnt he? From his reaction its obvious this was the focus of his entire presidency, he hates guns that much.. His “legacy” will now be a failed useless attempt at socialism. When will he learn it is not the NRA, the GOP, or any pro gun organization…it is the WILL of the majority of americans that will never be stifled.

    3. He and the rest of the TRAITORS will never stop trying to disarm citizens in this country…They must disarm us so that they can enslave us to their demands….By the way We will never comply….as you will see starting in NY state….Semper Fi

True spirited Americans have showed where they stand on the antigun legislation. We as Americans should be proud of the ones who represented the people and not the socialism ideas some want. The 2nd amendment is just one area of the Bill of Rights that is under attack. All our freedoms are questioned by the few who would love to destroy our freedoms. Stand tall and don’t ever give in to this style of thought. God Bless America!.

    5. We won by the skin of our teeth! Folks, it may be ok to take a breath of fresh air, but only to get ready for the next battle. Obama is right! (Hate to admit this), but its not over. We have so called Repubs that compromised with the enemy and Dems that FEARED the people. That’s the ONLY reason we won!. We need to prepare those that will represent WE THE PEOPLE for the right reason, to represent the people not their political careers. Nov 2014! We need way more than 6 VOTES!

    6. Its really all about making it a police state. They want total control with no citizen rights.

Mr. _resident, The only “shameful” action I see that came out of the Senate vote was that 54 senators voted to legislate away portions of our Constitutionally protected rights.
