Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- On Wednesday I had the privilege of being at a gun owners rally on Boston Common.

The rally was put on by the Gun Owners Action League (GOAL). GOAL is the ISRA counterpart in Massachusetts and they are doing a fine job I must say.

The theme of my speech was “Gun Owner Complacency”. We would not be in the predicament we are in if a large number of gun owners were not complacent. Take a quick look at the numbers. There are 90 million gun owners in the United States but only 4.3 million NRA members.

Look at Illinois. We have 1.5 million law abiding gun owners but only 26,300 ISRA members.

Our gun show recruiters see complacency all the time. Dozens of people walk by the recruiter’s table and tell you they will be back later or better yet tell you they have no money. The 30 minutes later you see them hauling all kinds of stuff out the door.

I had a guy tell me that and he later came back and told me he bought a new AR-15. Maybe the term “Free loader” would be a better term in his case!

All of us know people who are gun owners and complacent. Those people are the ones who have gotten us into the predicament we are in today. Had they been involved all the nutty anti-gun stuff would be unheard of.

If we are to Keep our Second Amendment rights we have to get them involved. We all know someone who is just riding on our coat tails hoping you and I will do the job. Now is the time to get them to join the ISRA and get them involved in the fight to Keep our gun rights. Let’s all of vow the recruit these people (at least one person) in the next 10 days.

Thank you to those that are already members.

Richard is right the problem is complacent gun owners. However I would like to add that we also have another group that is not complacent that also refuses to join some of these gun groups because of “COMPROMISE” of the gun groups. In my opinion the problem started when gun groups began supporting gun control laws like the 1968 GCA and the Illinois FOID card. Please remember this, before the 68 Act we could buy guns through the mail without 4473 forms or background checks, yet crime was low. Even non-violent felons and people with health issues could own firearms.… Read more »

This whole thing reverts back to what went on in the holocaust. Every time they came for someone, I didn’t say anything because I wasn’t that nationality, misfit, or religion. Then when they came for me and no one said anything because I was the only one left. The gun and freedom grabbers are always lurking in the shadows even when no one will talk about gun control. Always probing and trying to find a weak spot in our defenses, and there are a lot. We bought into the gun grabbers statement that they screwed up when trying to take… Read more »

Not only gun owners are at fault here, but all Americans who fail to see gun control for what it is – an attempt to subvert and destroy the Constitution, a piece at a time, and a threat to all of our rights. And gun owners are also at fault whenever they support legislation that infringes upon the rights of others, or when they refuse to acknowledge the rights of others and work to prevent others from exercising what they believe are their rights. In this too, they contribute to the demise of their own freedoms. We can’t trust the… Read more »

When they proposed the New Jersey “assault weapon and magazine ban” the shotgunners said it won’t affect me. And nobody needs those guns and mags. The Bench resters said the same. And so did other shooters. Happy now?
I remember the anger at Bush 41 after his “assault weapons” ban. They said “I voted for Perot, I showed Bush”. The look on their faces when I pointed out they had assured the election of Clinton, who promised to sign the Brady Bill was priceless. Jackasses.

This is what you guys are up against. Pay attention to what you say and how you say it. These people are on the movement to remove our weapons. Be Mindful of the arguments and don’t sound ignorant. They don’t listen to logic but they will use what we say against us.
