EXETER, NH --(Ammoland.com)- Max Michel, Jr., SIG SAUER’s competitive shooting champion, used his signature pistol to put his name atop the United States Practical Shooting Association’s Area 6 Championship leaderboard.

Using the 1911 MAX model he helped design, Michel dominated the Single-Stack division at the Ancient City Shooting Range in St. Augustine, Fla. With 1178.3447 match points, Michel topped the competition by a mere 0.474 percentage points.

The 1911 MAX is the culmination of a joint effort between SIG SAUER and the champion shooter. Designed to meet the needs of a world-class shooter, but built to the demanding specifications of SIG SAUER, the 1911 MAX is designed from the ground up to be the champion’s choice for action pistol competition.

“The 1911 MAX encompasses everything a single-stack competitor needs to win right out of the box,” said Jarrod McDevitt, SIG SAUER Rifle Product and Competitive Shooting Program Manager. “As a proud supporter of the shooting sports, we built this with the insight of a world champion.”

This year is shaping up to be a big competitive year for SIG SAUER. Already a regular sponsor of shooting matches around the country, SIG SAUER is increasing its already high level of participation. In addition to United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), Steel Challenge, Bianchi Cup, and NRA Police competitions, the firearms manufacturer will also expand its participation in the International Defensive Pistol Association and multigun/3-Gun competitions.
