New York –-(Ammoland.com)- A $65,000 pot of state grants is being made available to shooting ranges across the state.

According to a news release, the funding is designed to support recreational opportunities and to promote firearm safety. The funding will be doled out in matching grants at a three to one ratio.

A copy of the state application is available below.

“Shooting ranges provide important benefits to the hunting, recreational shooting, and competitive shooting communities,” said state DEC Commissioner Joe Martens in a statement.

“Governor Cuomo supports these grants to ensure the hunting communities have access to ranges to improve and practice their shooting skills. With publicly accessible shooting ranges being in high demand, the Shooting Range Grants Program will prove to be a popular supportive program.”

More about the program can be found on the DEC website.

$65K????? Talk about chump change. Probably buy a couple boxes of ammo, some ear plugs and TP for the potties.

Cuomo supports gun ranges so long as he gets to say what type of firearms are used there and how many rounds they hold. This is a shallow attempt by the little tyrant to sooth the anger of those who believe in our rights guaranteed by the 2A. He, and everyone else who voted for the clearly unconstitutional SAFE Act need to be voted out of office at their very next election. New Yorkers, and I am one, need to stop allowing these bullies to tell us what rights we have.

Actually, that is the first step towards a European Model, where you will only be able to keep your guns if they are stored at the range or “shooting club”. The only way you can hunt is under supervision of a “Hunt Master” who will draw your weapon from the range for you and accompany you to the place where you are allowed to hunt, and wait in the area to collect your weapon after you have bagged your animal. Great fun, eh? No more going anyplace with those guns by yourself or just some friends. That is the European… Read more »

Be careful – if Cuomo is involved, it’s just another way to target gun owners.
If you go to one of these ranges and pay for range time – there will be a record of it – then the Gun Thief will get those records and send the New York State Gestapo to collect your weapons.

Isn’t that what they did in Australia? They sweet talked the gun ranges and hunt clubs in order to get them to back bans of so called assault rifles, then once they got those bans in place they came after the hunting crowd anyway?
