Carry Permit Denials, Hagerstown & Bowie Festival Update by Maryland Shall Issue

Maryland ––(Ammoland.com)- Carry Permit Denials: As we indicated in previous updates, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the District Court finding that the State’s requirement for a lawful citizen to demonstrate a “good and substantial” (G&S) cause to carry functional arms in public was unconstitutional.

Even though the plaintiffs have promised an appeal to the Supreme Court, the State Police have begun issuing conditional denials to those who submitted applications without providing G&S — essentially giving people the opportunity to provide G&S in the event they have one the state deems sufficient.

If you have a G&S, then we are encouraging everyone to submit G&S as best you can. Be it if you carry cash, carry expensive property, or just detailed descriptions of why you need the permit. We cannot speculate how successful we will be, but we should press forward nonetheless. The State claims that they approve almost 90% of all permit requests, and they like to tout their averages as defense for their actions.

Of course, they typically forget to mention they discourage applications from those they do not pre-approve.

So, if you have paid your fees, then press your case. Once you are denied, you can (and should) request a hearing. A written request must be filed with the Secretary within 10 days after receiving written notice of the Secretary’s initial action. Alternatively, a person may request that the Handgun Permit Review Board review the decision of the Secretary by filing a written request within 10 days of the Secretary’s initial action.

Our rights are worthless if we don’t fight for them. If you have the ability to go to a hearing to push your request, we encourage you to do so.

I need to travel to DE to visit family. I can go through either MD or PA. Will not go through MD any longer.

It should be the State or Local Jurisdiction to prove a(Good and Substantial) reason to deny a permit to a citizen to Lawfully carry a gun, not the citizen proving a Good or Substantial reason to the State or Local Jurisdiction why they should be allowed to carry a gun.

For the time being there is a solution to living under unconstitutional tyranny . Just get the hell out of the state of Maryland like I did twenty five years ago , I have had my CCW permit for twenty years now with NO G&S bullcrap , just a clean record and a shall issue state .

I am so pleased I don’t live in a Progressive People’s Pardise State!!
