NV Anti-Gun Legislators Still Pushing Background Check Bill Despite Gun Owners & Sheriffs’ Opposition

NRA – ILA

Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- Yesterday, (May 28th 2013) gun owners, firearms dealers and the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association showed up to testify before the Assembly Judiciary Committee in opposition to Senate Bill 221, Senator Justin Jones’ (D-9) “universal” background check bill.

We thank those who attended this hearing and those who contacted their state legislators to oppose this dangerous legislation.

As the end of this legislative session draws near, there has never been a more important time to keep up the pressure in Carson City!  Please continue to contact your state Assemblyman to ensure Senate Bill 221 does not pass.

If enacted into law, Senate Bill 221 would ban all private firearm transfers, absent an exception, unless conducted through a gun dealer.   Even transactions that do not require a background check – such as those involving a concealed firearm permit holder –  will still be required to go through a gun dealer and will be subject to a fee.  This onerous requirement creates unnecessary hurdles and fees that will ONLY impact law-abiding gun owners.

Additionally, Senate Bill 221 carries penalties so severe for violations of this proposed law that failure to follow them exactly would result in temporary, and even permanent, loss of your fundamental Second Amendment rights.

Contact your state Assemblyman IMMEDIATELY and hold him or her accountable.  Demand that he or she protect the rights of law-abiding Nevada residents and OPPOSE Senate Bill 221.

Unfortunately, we in Nevada, just like those in Colorado, have been continuously Californicated for YEARS. People have moved to Nevada to escape crappy states and then voted to make it just like where they came from. Most of the politicians in our state government as well as those we send to DC love big government, love power, and constantly vote to pick our pockets and usurp our liberty. This state has kept Worthless Harry Reid in office since ’68 when he ran for state assembly. That pretty much says it all about which way we are headed. (I’m born and… Read more »

NV needs to do like CO is doing. Start a partition to recall lawmakers who did not vote as the majority asked them. Then choose a candidate who is not a gun grabber. You vote for them to vote for you. They can’t just vote anyway they want to because they are in office. There is more than one way to skin a gun grabber. This is the only way to undo what they have done.
